Rockstar Games officially unveiled the long-rumored collector’s edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 on September 24, and the reaction online was immediate. The $400 ‘Vice City Collection’ sold out, but it also became the internet’s favorite punching bag – and one of the people throwing punches was the official Rayman account on X.
What’s actually in the $400 GTA 6 box
The Vice City Collection bundles a figurine, Oakley sunglasses, a New Era hat, a mirror, a shot glass, a spoon, a bag, a keychain, a set of stickers and pins, and a map of the in-game state of Leonida. What it does not include is a copy of Grand Theft Auto 6 itself – and that detail, combined with the price tag, is what set the discussion off.
Rayman turns the criticism into marketing
A day after Rockstar’s announcement, the official Rayman account posted the contents of the Rayman Legends Retold Launch Edition with a pointed line: it “might not have a Glade of Dreams Collection,” but the $40 Launch Edition does come with physical extras and “a copy of BOTH Rayman Legends Retold and Origins: Enhanced Edition.” The post signs off with a winking-face emoji, so there’s not much room for doubt about who it’s aimed at.
Everything in the Rayman Legends Retold Launch Edition
- Rayman Legends Retold base game
- Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition
- Physical Glade of Dreams map
- A set of three lithographs
- Hoodlum Havoc Costume Pack
- Exclusive slipcase
The jab lands because the package backs it up. For $40 you get two games rather than one: Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition is a full title in its own right, a brand-new remaster of the 2011 platformer. On top of that come the printed map, the slipcase and the lithographs.
Where Rayman Legends Retold stands right now
Announced during the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play, Rayman Legends Retold is a full remake of the 2013 side-scrolling platformer Rayman Legends. Its headline features are Snowdrop Engine visuals and performance, but the remake also adds brand-new levels, dragon-riding gameplay sequences and an entirely new world.
The release date has moved, though. Ubisoft pushed the game from October 1 to December 3, saying the extra time is there to “make sure every detail gets the care it deserves.” We covered that in our piece on the December 3 delay.
What it means for you
If you were planning to pick up Rayman Legends Retold anyway, the Launch Edition is the version the publisher is clearly pushing as the value play – two games plus physical extras at a standard price point. And if you’re following the game’s road to launch, everything we’ve published sits in one place in our Rayman news hub.
