ENVY Are Back in Counter-Strike and They Signed a French Roster

The American organization ENVY is back in Counter-Strike, and it is back exactly the way everyone expected: with a French roster. The return became official today after weeks of speculation, and the five players coming in are the lineup that until now represented the French organization 3DMAX.

Why ENVY and France belong together

The “Boys in Blue” built their name mainly in Call of Duty, but in 2015 the organization’s leadership jumped at the chance to sign the reigning world champions from LDLC. After a bronze and a silver medal, the players finally took the title in their new home on the third attempt, which means ENVY has its own share in the celebrated era of French Counter-Strike that fans still talk about today.

ENVY backed French teams until 2018, then moved its Counter-Strike project across the Atlantic. The results from the previous era never came back, so at the start of 2021 the organization pulled the plug. CEO Mike Rufail never fully let go of the game, though. He moved to France a decade ago and says the local culture shaped the person he is today, and in April 2025 he publicly confirmed he was looking for the right opportunity to bring the brand back.

A roster rescued from a sinking ship

The French scene has its golden days long behind it, and the only genuinely relevant option on the market was the 3DMAX roster. That organization ran into serious financial trouble, so for the players the move is a long-awaited way out. The new ENVY lineup is made up of Makazin, misutaaa, LuckyCSGO, Kursy and graviti.

The reaction across France, including from the scene’s big names, has been one big celebration, because this comeback is an emotional story. Jeremy “Kursy” Gast, one of the signed players, made no secret of how much it means to him: he grew up watching ENVY during the French era and never imagined he would one day wear the jersey himself.

What’s next: the hunt for a Major

Now the team wants to turn the hype into results, and the goal is clear – a Major. Currently ranked as the 21st best team in the world, the squad will fight for that in October at two open LAN events. If you want to keep track of how the race is going, we cover the Major qualification path regularly, for example when SINNERS dropped out of contention in Belgrade.

Roster moves like this one are piling up across Europe right now – we also wrote about the ENCE academy lineup and about organizational shifts such as the Astralis investment. For everything else happening around the game, our CS2 news hub collects it all in one place.
