Steam has four more games you can add to your library for nothing – and this time it isn’t a limited-time giveaway. The developers behind Abattoir: Cow Escape, Sniper Road, Blitz Roads and Jam’s Adjustable Mirrors simply removed the price tags for good. Once a game goes free-to-play like this, there’s no countdown to beat: you can grab it today, next month, or whenever you remember it exists.
It’s the second wave of this kind in recent weeks. Five other paid Steam titles went permanently free shortly before, so the trend of small studios swapping revenue for reach is clearly catching on. If you’re also tracking the usual limited-time offers, we keep a separate overview of the free games on Steam.
What changed and why it matters
All four games launched on Valve’s storefront as paid products. Their asking prices ranged from roughly a dollar up to $9.99, which means the total value you’re picking up here is somewhere north of twenty bucks. The developers’ reasoning is the oldest trick in the indie book – drop the price to zero and hope more players show up.
- Abattoir: Cow Escape – simulation, 3D, physics; previously $4.99
- Sniper Road – third-person shooter, action; previously around $1
- Blitz Roads – 3D racing; previously $9.99
- Jam’s Adjustable Mirrors – 2D puzzle; previously $5.99
Abattoir: Cow Escape
A chaotic physics sandbox where you play as a cow trying to break out of a farm. The comparison to Goat Simulator writes itself – expect absurd mechanics piled on top of each other, including laser beams firing out of the cow’s horns. If you like ragdoll nonsense with a streak of dark humor, this is the pick of the four. You can grab it on the Steam store page.
Sniper Road
Instead of letting you perch on a rooftop, Sniper Road flips the usual sniper fantasy around. You walk a straight path while enemy snipers hide to your left and right, and your job is to spot them and take the shot before you step into their firing range. Several difficulty levels adjust how hard those enemies are to detect, so it scales from relaxed observation to genuinely tense.
Blitz Roads
High-speed racing with futuristic cars and bikes, wrapped in a neon art style that leans heavily on the Tron: Legacy look – glowing tracks that feel more like a virtual-reality grid than a real road. There are multiple modes, including an elimination format where the last driver of each lap is knocked out, and you can wreck rivals’ vehicles using lasers and other weapons. Jam’s Adjustable Mirrors
The most understated of the bunch and probably the most demanding. In each stage you redirect light beams with mirrors so they hit the right target and keep a machine running. Obstacles get in the way, and different mirror types react to light in different ways. There’s also a built-in level editor, so you can build your own puzzles once you run out of official ones.
