Forza Horizon 6 moved the Horizon festival to Japan and has been playable on PC and Xbox Series since May. PlayStation 5 owners were supposed to join in this year too, but the wait stretches a little further: Playground Games confirmed the PS5 version arrives on January 26, 2027. If you pick up the most expensive Premium Edition, you can start racing already on January 21.
Pre-orders, disc version and who built the port
Just like on the other platforms, pre-ordering gets you the Ferrari J50 as a bonus. A boxed release is planned as well, but the disc does not contain the complete game – part of the data has to be downloaded to your console online.
The conversion is not being handled directly by Playground Games. The work is in the hands of Panic Button, the team that also delivered the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5. Details on the PS5 edition and its bonuses are listed on the official Forza site.
Image modes and cross-platform features
The short trailer shows gameplay captured in the quality mode, where the game runs at 4K and 30 FPS. As on competing platforms, PS5 also offers a performance mode at 60 FPS.
If you plan to hop between platforms, the standout feature is save sharing. Forza Horizon 6 also supports cross-platform play, and community creations are shared too, including builds made in EventLab.
New content for everyone
January 21 is not just the start of early access for the PS5 version. The same day brings the first premium expansion. If you own the Premium Edition or the Expansions Bundle, you get it at no extra cost. After release, owners of the base game will be able to buy it separately.
Playground Games has more in store. Alongside all of the above, one more content update is coming, and that one lands free for every player. The studio has not shared any specifics about the contents of either the update or the premium expansion yet, so expect that information in the coming weeks or months.
Everything we write about the series, from the Japanese setting to future updates, is collected in our Forza Horizon coverage.
