If you have been wiping in a raid lately and your repair bill looked insane, you are not imagining it. Players are reporting a World of Warcraft bug that blows up repair costs to absurd numbers – in the worst documented case almost 156,000 gold for a single repair.
What players are reporting
The most extreme example comes from a player going by ItsWednesdayMyCubes, who posted a repair quote of nearly 156,000 gold after a wipe in Venomous Abyss against heroic Ula’tek. According to that report, the rest of the equipped gear was priced completely normally – the blame falls on one specific piece, a 6/6 Chestguard of Corroded Scale, which seems to be what inflates the total.
The painful part: the same player accidentally hit Repair All Items once and was charged roughly 30,000 gold for it. Other players have confirmed running into the same behavior, although so far without those eye-watering sums. If you raid Ula’tek regularly, you may also want to read up on the Curse of Ula’tek and what it does to Demonology Warlocks.
How to avoid losing your gold
- According to the reports, the inflated price resets after a UI reload – but it comes back after you die again.
- Always check the repair quote before you confirm it, and be careful with Repair All Items.
- Players are warning each other not to rely on add-ons that repair automatically, because they can confirm an absurd bill without you ever seeing it.
Blizzard has not officially confirmed the issue so far, and it is not clear whether this is a single item quirk or something that can hit multiple pieces of gear at once. Compensation is unlikely without video proof of what happened, so screenshots and clips are worth keeping.
Bad timing for a gold sink
The bug lands at the worst possible moment. Patch 12.1.5 goes live on October 13 and brings a mount priced at 7 million gold, the Sporebearer Fungal Strider, which demands serious grinding to afford. The same update also shuffles class balance, buffing specs that have been underperforming and toning down some of the strongest ones. A fix shipping alongside the patch looks unlikely. The Midnight storyline then wraps up with patch 12.2, scheduled for sometime in early 2027.
Meanwhile Blizzard is also busy with World of Warcraft: Forever, whose beta ends on October 27, with the full launch following just a week later on November 4. The beta also reignited talk about controller support, which official gamepad support only fueled further. You can find the full list of changes and patch notes on the official WoW site.

FAQ
The highest reported quote was almost 156,000 gold. One accidental click on Repair All Items cost that same player around 30,000 gold. Other players report smaller but still inflated amounts.
Based on player reports, a 6/6 Chestguard of Corroded Scale is the piece driving the inflated total, while everything else is priced normally.
Reloading your UI resets the price back to normal, but it breaks again after you die. Check the repair quote manually every time and avoid add-ons that repair your gear automatically.
There is no official confirmation of the bug yet, and a refund is unlikely unless you have video proof of what happened, so keep recordings or screenshots.
On October 13. It adds the 7 million gold Sporebearer Fungal Strider mount and a round of class tuning, but a fix for this bug is unlikely to ship with it.
