If you own Street Fighter 6, you have a free cosmetic waiting for you. Capcom is handing out a Zangief outfit inspired by the wrestler’s look in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film, and all it takes is a redemption code. The reward lands on every platform, so it doesn’t matter whether you play on PlayStation, Xbox, PC or Switch 2.
The code and when it works
The code is SF8T-QWM9-PTNT-VQN3 and it activates on October 16 – the same day the movie hits theaters. Before that date it simply won’t do anything, so if you try it early and get an error, just come back once the film is out.
The cosmetic is modeled on Olivier Richters’ version of Zangief from the film, meaning you get to bring the big-screen take on the Red Cyclone straight into your own matches.
Two more fighters are coming
Zangief isn’t the only one getting the Hollywood treatment. Capcom has also prepared movie-inspired looks for E. Honda and Dhalsim, but their codes will be revealed separately as part of a wider promotional scavenger hunt – so you’ll need to keep an eye out rather than wait for a single announcement.
This also isn’t the first giveaway tied to the film. Guile previously got a movie-themed color through Twitch Drops, and M. Bison received his own commemorative movie color through a separate promotion. For a game built on instantly recognizable silhouettes, a costume drop lands a lot more naturally than slapping a film logo somewhere in the Battle Hub.
What the movie actually is
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the new Street Fighter film arrives in theaters on October 16 and takes the series back to 1993, following Ryu and Ken as Chun-Li recruits them for another World Warrior Tournament. The cast includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka and Richters as Zangief. The production team has emphasized recreating each character’s recognizable fighting style – which matters in a series where a spinning piledriver or a Sonic Boom says as much about a fighter as their outfit does.
Street Fighter 6 three years on
Capcom’s fighter launched in 2023 and passed 7 million copies sold worldwide earlier this year. It also arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch title, and its competitive scene is still very much alive more than three years in. Year 4 continues with new fighters and updates, so the free Zangief skin is a small bonus on top of a game that keeps moving. You can grab it on the official site for more details on the current season.
