Darkness takes over Kings Canyon: Apex Legends pits Beasts against Demons in Wildcard

Darkness has descended on Kings Canyon. The Arena now belongs to the forces of darkness and every Legend is pledging loyalty to one of two camps – Beasts, or Demons. You pick your side, unlock either infernal abilities or outright werewolf powers, and then run wild across a haunted version of the oldest Apex map. The only question is whose banner you fight under.

Go feral in Wildcard

The whole thing plays out in Wildcard. You pledge to Beasts or Demons and then earn your faction’s Wild Cards by completing challenges during the match. Every round throws a fresh task at you: deal enough damage or land enough knocks and the Wild Card is yours.

What each side gives you differs quite a bit:

  • Beasts – you turn into a fast-moving monster with bonus melee movement speed, faster cells and weapon switching, plus temporary critical hits on reload.
  • Demons – you become an infernal powerhouse with faster ability recharge, high-tier shields, and a full shield recharge from just one cell.

If Wildcard is new to you, it is the same mode that recently hosted the crossover where Street Fighter 6 brought fight styles into Apex, and we have also covered the later Wildcard tuning in a separate article.

Stalk a haunted Kings Canyon

Everything goes down on a spooky Kings Canyon. Fog can randomly roll in across the map, hiding squad movement and cutting down sightlines – smart hunters use it to stalk their prey instead of running from it. To counter that, Respawn dusted off Rev Shell Grenades so you can seek out whoever is lurking in the dark.

Watch out for haunted buildings, glowing Nessies and the scares stashed around the map, including haunted Loot Bins and Pumpkin-skinned EVO orbs.

Full moon fashion in the Blood Pact Store

Cosmetics live in the Blood Pact Store. You can go full 80s werewolf with Sparrow’s new Legend Skin and Character Select Animation, or channel your inner demons with Alter’s new Legend Skin and the new R-99 Weapon Skin. On top of that there are new Beast and Demon Legend Retheme Bundles and more.

FAQ

What is the difference between Beasts and Demons?

Beasts turn you into a fast-moving monster with bonus melee movement speed, faster cells and weapon switching, and temporary critical hits on reload. Demons focus on power instead: faster ability recharge, high-tier shields, and a full shield recharge from a single cell.

How do I earn Wild Cards during a match?

You pledge to a faction and then complete challenges throughout the match. Each round brings a new one – if you deal enough damage or land enough knocks, the Wild Card is yours.

Which map does the event take place on?

On a haunted version of Kings Canyon, with randomly rolling fog that hides squad movement and reduces sightlines, plus haunted buildings, glowing Nessies, haunted Loot Bins and Pumpkin-skinned EVO orbs.

How do I find enemies hiding in the fog?

Rev Shell Grenades are back for exactly that reason – they help you seek out whoever is lurking in the dark.

Where do I get the Halloween cosmetics?

In the Blood Pact Store. It carries Sparrow’s new Legend Skin with a Character Select Animation, Alter’s new Legend Skin, the new R-99 Weapon Skin, and the Beast and Demon Legend Retheme Bundles.
