Black Ops 7 system requirements: PC specs, TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and storage

Running Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on PC takes more than enough horsepower. Without TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot switched on, you are locked out of some modes entirely, Ranked Play included. Below you’ll find Activision’s official requirements for minimum, recommended and Competitive/Ultra 4K setups, how much SSD space to set aside, how to check that your PC meets the security requirements and which drivers Activision recommends. Everything here is accurate as of 19 October 2026.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 | Launch Trailer (PC Features Spotlight)

Black Ops 7 minimum and recommended specs

Activision lists three tiers in its requirements article. Minimum gets the game running, recommended should hold 60 FPS in most situations on high settings according to Activision, and the third tier targets high-refresh competitive play or 4K.

We’ve left top-tier VRAM out on purpose: Activision Support says 12 GB, the launch article 16 GB. Every tier also needs a broadband connection, because Black Ops 7 requires a permanent internet connection in every mode, the campaign included (the game streams textures). You need an Activision account to play, and you may be asked to link a mobile number to it.

How much storage Black Ops 7 needs

The official numbers don’t match, so here are both with their source:

  • Steam (as of 19 October 2026) lists an SSD with 161 GB of free space for both minimum and recommended on its store page.
  • Activision Support lists 116 GB. At launch in November 2025 Activision quoted 115 GB, which is now mostly a historical figure.

Plan around the higher Steam figure. Activision itself warns that mandatory updates may need extra space and that specs reflect launch and may change. You can save space by installing only parts of the game: on Steam through Properties and DLC, on Battle.net by unticking content, and in the Xbox app with Choose what to install.

If Black Ops 6 is installed too, launching Black Ops 7 preloads the BO6 executable in the background so switching between the two is faster. Activision says this has no performance impact.

AVX CPUs and Resizable BAR on Intel Arc

Two conditions don’t show up in the table. Black Ops 7 only supports Intel and AMD processors with the AVX instruction set. And if you’re on an Intel Arc card, Resizable BAR has to be enabled.

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot: what Activision requires

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are mandatory for Black Ops 7 on PC, just as they are for Warzone. If your system doesn’t meet them, you lose access to some modes and playlists, Ranked Play among them, and you may be placed in separate matchmaking. Specifically, Activision wants:

  • Windows 10 version 22H2 or newer,
  • TPM 2.0: Intel 8th gen or newer with Intel PTT, AMD Ryzen 2000 or newer with fTPM, or a discrete dTPM chip,
  • BIOS in UEFI mode, not Legacy,
  • a system drive formatted as GPT, not MBR,
  • Secure Boot enabled.

How to check

Press Win+R and run tpm.msc. If the window says “The TPM is ready for use”, your TPM is fine. The easier route is the official Call of Duty Secure Attestation Wizard (version 1.2.0 from 16 September 2026). It scans your PC and tells you what needs fixing, for example “Secure Boot: Not Enabled”, “Boot Partition not set to GPT” or “BIOS Boot mode not set to UEFI”. You’ll find it in Activision’s TPM and Secure Boot article.

The exact BIOS steps depend on your motherboard, so we don’t walk through them here. Activision itself says to follow your board manufacturer’s instructions for UEFI/BIOS changes and accepts no responsibility for them. If the game warns on launch that your system doesn’t meet the security requirements, the next steps are in our troubleshooting guide.

Ranked Play and cloud attestation

Since Season 02, the Ricochet anti-cheat has added a stricter remote (cloud) attestation of your PC for Ranked Play, which Activision runs together with Microsoft. It goes beyond TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. On PC, Ricochet also uses a kernel-level driver that starts with the game and shuts down when you quit, and you can’t play without it. What that means for bans is covered in our Ricochet ban guide.

Recommended GPU drivers

As of 19 October 2026, Activision Support recommends these versions:

VendorRecommended version
AMD25.12.1
NVIDIA (desktop and laptop)591.59
NVIDIA Maxwell and Pascal581.80 (the last one, NVIDIA has ended Game Ready support for these cards)
Intel32.0.101.8531

What the PC version offers

The PC version is led by Beenox. According to Activision it has over 800 graphics, control and interface settings, a built-in Call of Duty PC Benchmark Tool, AMD FSR 4 plus other upscaling and frame generation, ultrawide and 4K support, sub-frame mouse polling and iCUE RGB lighting. Activision doesn’t publish “best settings” and neither do we.

Black Ops 7 on Steam Deck and handhelds

Valve has no Steam Deck compatibility rating for Black Ops 7 (as of 19 October 2026). Activision officially lists support for Windows handhelds, namely the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X.

If free-to-play Warzone is more your thing, it has its own Warzone requirements guide. For what Black Ops 7 itself costs and whether it’s on Game Pass, see our price and editions guide.
