Which platforms Elden Ring is on
Elden Ring is an open-world action RPG developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It launched on 25 February 2022 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Bandai Namco says it has sold more than 30 million copies.
Console generations aren’t a problem. The PS4 version comes with a free PS5 upgrade, and on Xbox the game supports Smart Delivery, so one purchase covers both Xbox One and Series X|S. Since 28 August 2026 the game has also been available on Nintendo Switch 2 as a standalone release, the Tarnished Edition.

Elden Ring editions and what’s inside
Bandai Namco sells the game in several bundles. The main difference is whether the expansion and the digital extras are included:
| Edition | Contents |
|---|---|
| Elden Ring | base game |
| Shadow of the Erdtree Edition | base game + Shadow of the Erdtree DLC |
| Shadow of the Erdtree Deluxe Edition | base game + DLC + digital artbooks and soundtracks for both |
| Shadow of the Erdtree Premium Bundle | DLC only + digital DLC artbook and soundtrack, no base game |
| Collector’s Edition | DLC voucher (no base game), soundtrack, 46 cm Messmer statue, 40-page artbook |
| Tarnished Edition | Switch 2 version: base game + DLC + Tarnished Pack content |
If you already own the base game, the DLC on its own or the Premium Bundle is all you need. Both require the base game, and so does the Collector’s Edition, which only includes a voucher for the DLC. How to reach the expansion and which bosses stand in the way is covered in our expansion guide. Starting from scratch? The Shadow of the Erdtree Edition saves money: €79.99 on Steam versus €99.98 for the game and DLC bought separately.
Tarnished Edition vs Tarnished Pack
The names are close, but they’re two different products.
Tarnished Edition (Nintendo Switch 2)
The Tarnished Edition is Elden Ring for Nintendo Switch 2. It includes the base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and new content: two new starting classes, Heavy Knight and Idus Knight, four new armour sets, new weapons and three appearances for your horse Torrent. You can play it docked on a TV or in handheld mode.
Bandai Namco announced it on 2 April 2025 with a 2025 target, but it ended up releasing on 28 August 2026 (the date was confirmed on 4 June 2026). It costs €79.99 in the German eShop and £64.99 in the UK eShop, and carries a 16 age rating.
Tarnished Pack (PC, PlayStation, Xbox)
The Tarnished Pack is a paid add-on that brings the Tarnished Edition content to the other platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. It launched on the same day, 28 August 2026, at a suggested price of €4.99, which is also what it costs on Steam.

The pack contains both new classes, Heavy Knight and Idus Knight, four armour sets and three Torrent appearances. Patch 1.17 from 27 August 2026 adds new weapons and two NPC invasions, in Caelid and Leyndell. You can use the content in the base game and in Shadow of the Erdtree. How the new classes compare with the original ten is covered in our classes guide.
Is Elden Ring on Game Pass or PS Plus?
No. As of 20 October 2026, neither Elden Ring nor Elden Ring Nightreign is in the Game Pass catalogue, on console or on PC. We checked the Game Pass catalogue directly. That matches our list of the best Xbox games.
PlayStation is the same story. The PlayStation Store doesn’t list any Elden Ring edition as part of PS Plus, so as of 20 October 2026 it isn’t in the PS Plus line-up. You have to buy the game. You only need PS Plus on PlayStation for online play, and on Xbox a subscription with online multiplayer.
Elden Ring Nightreign: a separate game with its own price
Elden Ring Nightreign isn’t DLC. It’s a standalone co-op game set in the Elden Ring universe, and you don’t need the base game to play it. It came out on 30 May 2025 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. On Steam, as of 20 October 2026:
- Nightreign: €39.99
- Nightreign Deluxe Edition: €54.99
- The Forsaken Hollows DLC: €15
What you actually do in Nightreign, how many players it supports and what the DLC added are in our Nightreign guide.
