Want more FPS out of PUBG on PC? Official support for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS doesn’t hand out “pro” values, but it clearly explains what each of the ten graphics options does, what to lower first and what slows the game down outside the menus: old launch options, Fullscreen Optimization, overclocking, drivers and an overheating PC. Here it all is in one place, accurate as of 20 October 2026.
The game picks a quality level for you
On first launch, PUBG sets a recommended graphics quality based on your PC. That is a sensible starting point. If your FPS isn’t high enough, support suggests lowering advanced settings, mainly anti-aliasing, shadows and FOV (field of view).
Staying on the current version helps too. Update 43.2, released on PC on 14 October 2026, lists general in-game performance optimisation, although KRAFTON published no specific figures.
What all 10 graphics options do
The graphics menu has ten options. According to PUBG support, they work like this:

| Option | What it affects |
|---|---|
| Screen Scale | image sharpness; a low value makes items blurry |
| Anti-aliasing | smoothing of jagged edges; support recommends keeping it on |
| Post-Processing | per the support description, the amount of shadows |
| Shadows | shadows |
| Texture | overall graphics quality |
| Effects | effects |
| Foliage | plants and vegetation |
| View Distance | how far you can see; higher means further |
| Motion Blur | blur when moving |
| V-Sync | sync with your monitor; can lower FPS on weaker PCs |
You won’t find specific “best” values here on purpose. The official source doesn’t give any, and the numbers floating around online can’t be verified. Every PC is different, so change one option at a time and watch what happens.
What to lower first
Support names these as examples of advanced settings to lower when performance falls short:
- Anti-aliasing – support otherwise recommends keeping it on, but when FPS is too low it is one of the options to reduce.
- Shadows – shadow quality.
- FOV – field of view.
- V-Sync – can lower FPS on a weaker PC, so try turning it off.
Be careful with Screen Scale. Lowering it blurs the image and makes items and enemies harder to spot. The same goes for View Distance: lower means you see less.
Launch options, Fullscreen Optimization and overclocking
You will find plenty of launch parameters online that promise more FPS. Support says the opposite: remove all launch options for the game in Steam, because they date back to early access and support does not recommend them. The support guide also advises:
- In Steam, right-click PUBG, open Properties and clear the launch options field.
- In the properties of
TslGame.exeinSteamsteamappscommonPUBGTslGameBinariesWin64, disable Fullscreen Optimization. - Turn off CPU, RAM and GPU overclocking.
Don’t use programs like ReShade that alter the image. PUBG does not allow them because they can behave like a cheat. More in our guide to errors and anti-cheat.
Drivers, network and temperatures
If your FPS only drops now and then, graphics settings may not be the cause. For frame drops, support recommends:
- getting graphics drivers straight from the manufacturer (NVIDIA or AMD), not generic Microsoft drivers,
- closing programs that use the network in the background,
- allowing the game through Windows Firewall,
- checking whether your PC is overheating and cleaning out dust,
- lowering your graphics settings.
When only hardware helps
Settings can only get as much out of your PC as the hardware allows. According to support, the recommended specs deliver 144 FPS in most situations, while the minimum specs may not give smooth play. For high FPS and high refresh rate monitors, support lists an even stronger “competitive” setup. The exact components are in our article on PUBG system requirements. FAQ
There is no universal answer. Official support suggests starting from the recommended settings the game picks for you, then lowering anti-aliasing, shadows and FOV, and on a weaker PC also V-Sync.
No. Support recommends removing all Steam launch options, because they date back to early access.
Common causes are outdated or generic graphics drivers, programs using the network, an overheating PC or overclocking. Follow support’s steps and install drivers from your graphics card maker.
According to support, 144 FPS in most situations. The minimum specs may not guarantee smooth play.
