ARC Raiders Update 2.3: Noxious Set, Souls Offering and a Big Grappling Hook Cleanup

ARC Raiders Update 2.3: Noxious Set, Souls Offering and a Big Grappling Hook Cleanup

Update 2.3 is rolling out right now and you’ll need to restart the game to download it. It brings the Noxious Set, a new player project called Souls Offering and a long list of fixes – especially around the Frigate, the Grappling Hook and Pendola Pass. If you’re still deciding whether to jump in, the game lives on its Steam store page.

The team also notes a schedule change: since Frozen Trail launched, fixes have been shipping in weekly updates. From today onwards it’s back to the regular rhythm – fixes every three weeks, store updates weekly. Everything that arrived with that expansion is summed up in our Frozen Trail overview.

New Player Project: Souls Offering

While the four contradas of Toledo can’t agree on much, they share the losses they’ve suffered topside. As brutal stories from Pendola Pass trickle into the cantinas, Celeste is encouraging members of Speranza to pause and honor the fallen – to remember each fallen Raider for who they were and the dents they managed to make in ARC’s onslaught. Every offering is unique, but everyone who pauses in reverence shares in their Souls Offering.

ARC

  • Loot distribution inside the Emperor has been adjusted. Containers near the entrance now give lower-tier rewards, with the better stuff placed deeper inside.
  • Fixed a case where rolling enemies kept laying tracks after they died.
  • Improved how ARC move when they’re close to the borders of the map.
  • Fixed an issue where you could stand on the Skulker indefinitely.
  • Vaporizer debris no longer flies away or jitters; reactions now better match the weight and size of the pieces.
  • New visual hatches make it easier to see how far the Frigate puzzle has progressed.
  • Fixed missing collision on the Frigate that let players enter or hide inside geometry, plus getting stuck on the wings.

Animation

  • Minor tweak to the Bull Rush skill’s camera animation on hit.
  • Magazines now eject properly during reloads on Bettina, Bobcat and Kettle.

Audio

  • Clearer audio cues on the Frigate’s power core vents and hatches signal progression, completion and destruction states.
  • New sound effects for picking up and placing furniture in the Outpost, including returning furniture to its original slot.
  • Refined audio for Outpost crafting, placement, progress and removal.
  • Fixed cloth not simulating correctly.

Gameplay

General

  • Downed Raiders no longer keep losing health after entering the Ballistic Gondola.
  • Heavy Shield base charge increased from 80 to 90. The devs say the small 2.0 buffs visibly changed the durability drain rate, but usage is still fairly low – so it gets another nudge. The goal is slightly better survivability against most weapons without opening too big a gap between the Heavy and Medium Shields; the team will watch the change closely for unintended effects on combat balance.
  • On or near the Frigate, pings now mark the exact location instead of just labeling the Frigate.
  • The exploit prevention used in locked rooms has been expanded for a fairer experience inside the Emperor.
  • Barricade kits can no longer be placed where they’d intersect solid walls or in spaces that are too tight.
  • Killboxes at the top of the compactor inside the Emperor in Pendola Pass were tweaked to remove unfair deaths.
  • Heavy landings now trigger correctly while dodgerolling – previously retriggering a heavy landing during a Dodge Roll could negate fall damage.
  • Scrappy no longer rotates in the Outpost outside of customization, and it now shows up in the Outpost without having to enter the Workshop or customization first.

Frigate

  • You can now ping the Frigate from long range while it’s entering the area.
  • Loot distribution adjusted so areas further in have a higher chance of higher-tier rewards.
  • The cargo gate has been updated to a newer version.

Items

  • Mines can no longer be placed on dismantling barricades, which made them float in midair.
  • Fire from Flame Spray no longer passes through walls.
  • Flame Spray damage up to 13/s (from 10/s) and durability drain reduced by 50%.
  • The Firefly Burner now activates on impact when thrown, traveling while leaving a trail of fire before exploding after about 3 seconds. Previously you had to shoot it to vent fire.
  • Adrenaline Shot can now be used even at max stamina. The effect no longer stacks – another shot just refreshes the duration.
  • Fixed inverted drop rates for furniture Designs; rarer items now drop less often.
  • Dolabra, Bobcat, Equalizer, Jupiter, Tempest and Vulcano blueprints can drop in any major map condition. The drop chance of that pool was slightly lowered to account for the added value.
  • Reduced the drop chance of the Emperor Key blueprint from Redirection pods, with a small chance of ARC parts and high-tier ARC loot added as compensation.

Grappling Hook

  • The Grappling Hook now works inside the Matriarch’s shield while it’s active.
  • Tether items now affect players swinging from the Grappling Hook.
  • Fixed launches at extreme speeds or into the air when the line snagged on geometry.
  • The hook now reattaches to debris when its target breaks apart, which helps when grappling destroyed ARC parts.
  • Reeling an ARC while the rope was wrapped around an obstacle pulled it toward you instead of the wrap point; targets now reel toward the rope as intended, preventing unintended high-speed launches.
  • Fixed being able to reel in the hook while firing was blocked, which could also corrupt the animation during a Dodge Roll.
  • Fixed the hand animation getting stuck after swapping from a thrown Grappling Hook to another item.

Camera

  • Added Color Push and Black & White filters to the advanced Camera.
  • Refined film grain texture on the Classic Film filter.
  • Less depth-of-field blur on the Basic Camera, so selfies come out clearer.

Zipline

  • Entering a zipline from the ground now moves your character upward correctly, so attachments behave properly.
  • The Zipline preview cable no longer disappears when aiming at very long distances.

Map

Pendola Pass

  • Multiple collision issues fixed around the fallen Emperor to reduce getting stuck, missing collisions and unintended out-of-bounds access.
  • Players could sometimes clip through the gondola extraction – fixed.
  • Missing ceiling collision in the Fallen Emperor that let players leave the playable space is gone.
  • Removed chairs in a shelter that could block looting due to collision issues.
  • Better container placement inside the Storm Huts, which also fixes a Medical Bag that could be interacted with through a wall.
  • An ammo box that wasn’t interactable now works.

Spaceport

  • Fixed a small fence gap where players could get stuck.

Stella Montis

  • Fixed various spots where players could get stuck.

Performance

  • FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) plugin updated to version 4.1.1.

Quest

  • Daily Quests now refresh in the menus after they expire.

Stability

  • Reduced audio memory usage on Xbox Series S to improve stability and mitigate out-of-memory crashes, particularly around the Frigate.
  • Fixed getting stuck in the tunnel sequence after finishing a round; a failsafe now returns you to the front end if the end-of-round survey screen fails to load.
  • Added a workaround for a ray tracing related GPU crash on AMD RX 7000 series GPUs.
  • Reduced memory usage for the Frigate to address rare crashes while exploring its cargo hold with larger groups, plus general stability improvements there.
  • Fixed a rare crash while using voice chat.

UI

General

  • The Expedition Vault is being disabled. You’ll receive Bronze Statuettes as compensation for the purchased slots and everything you had in the Vault moves to your stash.
  • The HUD now shows the correct controller input hint for the Raider Tool and melee, including the Hold indicator based on your binding.
  • Camera HUD now extends to the edges of widescreen displays.
  • The End of Round screen correctly shows attached Weapon Mods and applied Stencils, and tooltips display Stencil info properly.
  • Fixed the mouse cursor getting confined to a small area after using the radial wheel with a controller.
  • Added animated transitions and a subtle glint effect to collection items in menus.
  • Unified On/Off toggle order in outfit customization – ON first, OFF last.
  • Added a camera bob option in Gameplay settings.
  • The health bar no longer shows a healing preview while downed.

Codex

  • The selected Codex entry no longer gets cut off in the sidebar when scrolling.
  • The “Bilguun’s Hideout” entry now unlocks after visiting it on Spaceport.
  • Basic and Advanced Camera tooltips now clarify where saved photos can be viewed in the Codex.

Outpost

  • Better framing of furniture icons for clearer previews.
  • Camera cycling while placing furniture now skips views that don’t show a compatible slot.
  • Fixed a camera issue at the Workshop Bench slot near the Outpost door that clipped through the wall.

Reward Pass

  • Upgrade screen cleanup: standardized panel heights, adjusted padding, capitalized “Includes:” and larger list items for longer translations.
  • Feats panel layout improved, Daily Feats renamed to Feats, Weekly Bonus renamed to Milestones and timers refined for readability.

Weapon Amplification

  • Branch points in the Amplification tree now list the specific amplifications they’d block, instead of the generic exclusivity message.
  • The Amplify button in the Weapon Bench upgrade tab shows its keybind on keyboard and mouse.

Project and Workshop

  • Fixed the yellow dot on the Projects tab persisting after checking or starting projects.
  • Workshop subnavigation reordered to match the tile order, with Basic Workbench right after Scrappy.

VFX

  • Volumetric smoke has less jitter and aligns more accurately with smoke density.
  • Improvements to skin shading.
  • One ambient occlusion technique improved, which should significantly reduce ghosting and flickering in some areas.
  • Added missing downwash effects when the Ballistic Gondola takes off.
  • Better lighting on Frigates by preserving global illumination, so interiors aren’t overly dark.

Known Issues

  • The Raider Tool shows the default skin even when other skins are equipped.
  • Extracting with partial progress on the ‘To The Skies’ quest may make it impossible to complete.
  • ‘When Everything Falls’ – some objectives, such as “Photograph Port A”, may not complete for some players.
  • If you lose or sell quest items, such as the Equatorial Sundial needed for ‘Clean Hands’, the quest can’t be completed.
  • Some Xbox players may experience instability or crashes.
  • ARC Reclaimers can occasionally fail to dock on the appropriate spot on the Frigate.
  • Vaulting on an ARC Reclaimer can mistakenly push you off.
  • Some weapon models may dramatically increase in size during a raid.
  • Falling while using the Grappling Hook can make you “bounce” high into the air.
  • There’s a spot around the Railroad on Pendola Pass where players can get stuck.
