Green Hill Zone is the most striking of them, and you’ll recognize it at first glance. Its colors set it apart from the rest of the map so much that it has become one of the most popular places to land.
The center of the island: The Spire
The biggest change of the season, though, happened in the middle. The Spire became the main landmark of the map, and the area around it was rebuilt into a new environment with vivid pink trees. It’s where most players head, so landing there means a quick fight.
Smaller locations without a name on the map
Besides the three named places, a number of smaller landmarks were added: Arcade, Pac-Man Island, Blinky Island, Pinky Island, Barncade, Mega Maze, Pixel Polys and Geno’s Machine. You won’t find them labeled on the map, but players commonly use them to find their way around and to complete quests.
The names give away the theme of the season: arcade games and gaming history run through all of Override.
Heads-up: Fortnite has two maps at once
This is what confuses people the most. Fortnite OG runs alongside the main game as a separate mode on the original map from the game’s early days. In its current season, the map was transformed by the so-called Reality Wave: Dusty Depot is whole again, and Rift Zones are back, including one inspired by Pandora from Borderlands.

How often the map changes
Big changes arrive with every new season, which is roughly once every two to three months. Between seasons, the map gets smaller tweaks along the way: a temporary event shows up, a building disappears, a collab-themed element is added.
In practice, this means any map guide has a limited shelf life. The current Override season ends on 31 October 2026, and the map will change again with it.
Where to land
A general rule holds across seasons: the more interesting the place, the more people there. Green Hill Zone and the area around The Spire are full of action and loot, but also opponents. Smaller landmarks away from the main Battle Bus route give you a calmer start and time to gear up.
If you play in a squad across platforms, agree on a spot in advance. Splitting up right after you drop is the fastest way to lose your team’s advantage.
