PlayStation Plus has three tiers: Essential, Extra and Premium. Online multiplayer is part of all three, including the cheapest one, so you don’t need to buy a pricier tier just to play with friends. Extra adds a catalog of hundreds of games, and Premium adds classic games, game trials and cloud streaming on top of that. Streaming is also where the biggest catch lies, because the Czech PlayStation site lists it only for PS5 and the PlayStation Portal.

The table is based on the membership comparison on playstation.com as of 11 September 2026. Sony itself puts a monthly value on Ubisoft+ Classics in the Extra and Premium tiers, and it is a substantial part of what the subscription is worth if you play Ubisoft games.
How much PlayStation Plus costs
Sony shows the full price list only after you sign in to your account. As of 11 September 2026, we were able to verify these three amounts directly in the Czech PS Store:

The difference between annual Extra and annual Premium is CZK 720, roughly a fifth of the price. For that you get the Classics Catalog, game trials and streaming. Sony doesn’t publicly show the monthly prices of Extra and Premium or the annual price of Essential; it displays them only to a signed-in account.
You get online multiplayer even in the cheapest tier
This is the most common misconception about PS Plus. Online play is part of Essential, and the pricier tiers change nothing about it: Extra and Premium add content, not multiplayer access. For many games you don’t need it at all. Sony explicitly states that most free-to-play games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends and Call of Duty Warzone don’t require a membership. The Game Catalog is a rental, not a library
Games from the Extra and Premium catalog are tied to an active subscription. As soon as you cancel it or it runs out, you lose access to them. Downloaded files on the drive won’t help, because the game won’t launch without a valid membership. The same applies to monthly games from the Essential tier: adding them to your library keeps them there, but they stay playable only while you are a member. What stays after you cancel are trophies, because they belong to your profile, not to the game. We cover how trophies on PlayStation work separately.
Related to that is one more change that Sony mentions directly on the PS Plus page: since January 2026, PS4 games are added only irregularly. The subscription’s content is shifting toward PS5, so if you play on the older console, it is good to know what you are paying for. Cloud streaming in Premium: the Czech site lists only PS5 and Portal
Streaming is the only thing besides older games that Premium adds over Extra, and it is also the most misunderstood. The Czech PlayStation site lists the PS5 console and the PlayStation Portal remote player as the devices. Sony also has a PS Plus app for Windows, but the Czech site doesn’t mention it, so check directly in your account whether Premium will work on your computer before you pay for it.
The practical difference from the competition: Xbox Cloud Gaming can run even in a mobile browser, so it works as a console replacement. PS Plus streaming, by contrast, is built around the console and the Portal, which makes it more of an add-on for someone who already owns a PlayStation.
What you can play through it and at what quality:
- Games from the Game Catalog and hundreds of PS3 and PS2 titles from the Classics Catalog.
- Selected games from your own collection bought in the PlayStation Store.
- Streamed trials of major PS5 titles.
- Quality up to 4K with HDR at 60 Hz, including all PS5 audio outputs and Tempest 3D AudioTech.
Sony lists the minimum connection speed as 5 Mbps, and 15 Mbps for 1080p. The same page promises up to 4K at the top but gives no speed for that resolution at all, so you can’t work out from the numbers what you will actually get at home. The streaming row also has an asterisk noting that it doesn’t apply to overseas territories. Czechia is not among the excluded areas, so streaming is available there. One more small detail that can trip you up when buying: in one place the Czech Sony site talks about the Premium tier, a few paragraphs later about Deluxe, and the FAQ about vouchers uses only the name Deluxe. In the comparison table, on the membership cards and on the product page in the PS Store, however, the tier is called Premium. For buying in Czechia, the correct name is Premium.
Which tier to choose
- Essential is enough for a player who already owns their games and mainly cares about multiplayer, cloud saves and monthly games. At CZK 235 a month on a recurring payment, it is the cheapest ticket to online play.
- Extra makes sense when you tend to try games rather than finish them. The annual CZK 3,280 works out to about CZK 273 a month, which is the price of one discounted game per year, and the catalog has hundreds of titles.
- Premium pays off in two cases: you have a PS5 or a Portal and want to stream, or you are interested in games from PS1, PS2 and PSP. Without a PS5, all the extra cost gets you is the Classics Catalog.
When PS Plus isn’t worth it
- You only play free-to-play games. Fortnite, Apex Legends and Warzone don’t require a membership, so you would be paying for a catalog you won’t use.
- You want to own your games. The catalog stops working when the subscription ends. For games you come back to years later, buying is still the smarter choice.
- You are buying Premium only for streaming. The Czech site names PS5 and Portal for it, so before you pay CZK 4,000 a year for a feature you want to use on a different device, check in your account that it actually shows up there.
