Nintendo says Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has no permanently missable content, and that holds up – you can replay any chapter from the prologue to the finale. In practice there’s still one thing that slips past most players on a first run: paralogues. They’re tied to calendar days, which days depends on your route, and the ones you finish help decide who’s available to you in part 3.
The short version:
- Nothing is technically lost for good. The replay function covers the whole game, prologue to finale.
- Paralogues are the real catch. They’re only available on certain calendar days, and those days depend on the route you’re playing.
- They reach into part 3. Paralogues you complete unlock characters who show up later as guest units.
- Classes hang off routes too: the Dancer class unlocks through Leda’s storyline.
- Other time gates cover quests with deadlines, certain support conversations, calendar events in Dagsion, and arena spectating.
- Practical advice: clear at least two of the four part 1 routes and take every paralogue you can reach before heading into the final stretch.
Why “nothing is missable” is only half the story
The developer line isn’t spin. The game keeps save data at the chapter starts for each protagonist, so you can jump back and play a section again, and your support levels come with you. On top of that, the Goddess of Fate’s power lets you go back into the past and retry situations as often as you want.
The catch sits elsewhere. Restarting a chapter wipes the progress you made after it. You do get the missed content back, but you pay for it in playtime – and anyone who notices twenty hours later probably won’t make that jump. Which is exactly why the time windows are worth knowing on your first run.
Paralogues: the thing that actually slips past
Paralogues are special quests you accept from notable characters. They’re only available on specific days in the calendar, and which days those are depends on the route you’re currently on. Let the window pass and that paralogue is gone for this playthrough.
That would be a minor annoyance if it were just a side mission. But paralogues decide which characters you get to use at all – you recruit through them, and completed part 1 paralogues unlock guest characters for part 3, from faction leaders through to the lords themselves. Since the part 3 battles are widely described as a serious step up in difficulty, every extra unit there makes a tangible difference.
How the four routes tie in
Part 1 splits into four storylines – Cai, Dietrich, Leda and Theodora. You don’t need all four. The common recommendation is to finish at least two of them, taking every paralogue you can along the way, before you move into the last part.
It isn’t only about unit count. Some classes are locked behind a particular route: the Dancer class unlocks through Leda’s storyline. If you have a specific class in mind, check which route it sits behind before you commit, and save yourself the trip back later.
Everything else on a timer
| Content | How the window works |
|---|---|
| Quests | Can only be accepted within a set timeframe and carry deadlines. Miss it and the reward goes with it. |
| Support conversations | Some chains are tied to points in the story. Raise support levels too late and you lose a conversation or the whole chain. |
| Calendar events | Festivals, sales, special bonuses and character birthdays run on fixed days. Not being in Dagsion that day means missing them. |
| Arena spectating | Available only on certain days within a set window, and it grants a skill EXP bonus for watching. |
Battles have their own safety net on top of this. Fortuna’s Blessing rewinds turns, which mostly means saving units from dying in Classic Mode. Two limits worth knowing: once you’ve completed a map’s objective it stops working, and it isn’t available in dungeons at all.
FAQ
According to the developers, no – you can replay any chapter from the prologue to the finale. Within a single playthrough, though, plenty of content is time-gated, paralogues most of all.
It’s out of reach for that playthrough. You can use the replay function to jump back to the relevant chapter, but you’ll lose the progress you’ve made since.
No. The recommendation is to complete at least two routes and pick up as many paralogues as possible before starting the final part.
Completed part 1 paralogues unlock guest characters for part 3. Because those battles are considerably harder, each extra unit buys you tactical room.
Yes, support levels carry over. The progress you made after the restarted chapter does not.
Once you’ve completed a map’s objective, and in dungeons, where it isn’t available at all.
