What you can actually do together
The basics: Idyll’s open world can be explored in twos or in bigger groups, and combat in it runs in real time, not in turns. Each player still runs their own team – four slots, five roles (DPS, BREAK, HEAL, REGEN, SUPPORT), so you always leave one role out.
That leads to something nobody else writes about: when two players team up, two different quartets team up with them, and they fill each other’s gaps. Whatever role you left out yourself – say, HEAL – your partner can easily bring along. A composition you’d never build solo happens naturally just from playing together.

Aniimo has cross-play. Steam’s own store listing for the game lists a “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” category right alongside Co-op, Online Co-op, PvP and Online PvP – meaning you can play with a friend even when they’re on a different platform than you.
That needs to be kept separate from something people commonly confuse it with: account linking across platforms. According to the available information, an Aniimo account can be linked across PC, PS5, Xbox and Steam, so you keep the same progress no matter where you sign in. That’s a different question from cross-play – cross-play is about whether players on different platforms can play together, account linking is about whether one player’s own progress carries across devices. Homeland: where players meet outside combat
Besides the open world, according to the game’s official description every Pathfinder also has their own RV parked at a camp in the open world – and this is where players commonly run into each other outside of combat. Back home, in what’s called the Homeland, you can grow things, place decorations and set up space for your creatures.
It’s a different kind of social space than fighting together in the open world – instead of cooperating in the moment, it’s about what you show each other from your own camp. No other Aniimo article covers this yet, even though it’s a confirmed system straight from the game’s own description.
Where co-op ends: Egg Heist
Aniimo is otherwise a cooperative game, but it has one mode where you’re against other players, not with them. It’s called Egg Heist, and according to the game’s official description it’s a PVEVP mode for a 3-player team that plays out in real time in the Lost Isles. It’s not pure PvP – it’s a mix of searching and fighting against both the environment and other players at once.

EP (the energy skills draw from) is shared within your own team of four creatures – it shows up as six blue orbs. Whether that pool is somehow shared across players in co-op, or whether each player has their own, isn’t something we were able to confirm reliably enough to state here as fact.
