This section collects news about the board game The Lord of the Rings: The King’s Gambit, currently running a campaign on Kickstarter. It is a reworked version of the 2000 title Star Wars: The Queen’s Gambit, keeping action programming via action cards and four battlefields, while adding Resolve tokens that determine the strength of actions and the number of units activated, Momentum for boosting actions, and ten Objectives, five of which are selected for each game. The game covers the final chapters of The Lord of the Rings across four fronts at once: the Pelennor Fields, Minas Tirith, Pelargir and the road to Mount Doom. It supports 1 to 4 players and includes a solo mode designed by Dávid Turczi. The base Kickstarter version costs just under 200 dollars, with a playmat version and a deluxe edition featuring more premium components also available. The retail version arrives in 2027 with smaller game boards and no solo mode in the base box.
