Conan Exiles Enhanced is a free upgrade that moved the game to Unreal Engine 5, released on 5 May 2026 for everyone who owns it on Steam. It brings new visuals, merges the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah into one world, and adds a redesigned UI, multiple characters in single-player and crafting from nearby chests. It hasn’t come to consoles, the Epic Games Store or the Microsoft Store yet.
What Conan Exiles Enhanced is and who gets it
Enhanced isn’t a new game or a paid DLC. Funcom built it together with Inflexion Games and released it as a free upgrade for current and future owners of Conan Exiles on Steam. The whole game is now listed on Steam as Conan Exiles Enhanced, and existing owners received the upgrade automatically. New players pay €39.99 for the base game (Steam price without a discount as of 26 September 2026).
The original Unreal Engine 4 version is still around. You’ll find it as Conan Exiles Legacy in Steam: right-click the game, open Properties and go to Game Versions & Betas. On PC, though, Legacy gets no updates or support, has no Bazaar and no official servers, and Crom Coins can’t be used there.
Visuals and performance
The move to UE5 shows most in the environments, character models, lighting and effects. Funcom is targeting 60+ FPS across every graphics preset from Low to Ultra on most PCs and also points to strong Steam Deck performance.
For upscaling, the game supports DLSS 4.5, FSR 3 and XeSS, including frame generation. The install is leaner too: according to Funcom it’s roughly half the size of the old version. Funcom’s own materials give different figures, so we’re not quoting one. When planning disk space, go by the Steam requirement in the table below.
Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah in one world
This is the biggest gameplay change. Both maps are now connected into a single world: one character, travel between the maps without restarting, and no need to pick a map at character creation. You reach Siptah from the Exiled Lands via a special NPC, and a single server can host both regions at once.
The Isle of Siptah is still a paid DLC. Without it, you stay in the Exiled Lands. Official Siptah servers on PC shut down on 4 May 2026. Funcom moved those characters to Exiled Lands servers and also launched fresh start servers.

Gameplay changes
- Multiple characters in single-player. Single-player and co-op now have multiple save slots, so you can run several characters side by side.
- Redesigned UI. There’s a compass, new crosshairs and numeric values.
- Crafting from chests. Crafting, building, repairing and dyeing pull resources from your followers’ inventories, thralls at the station and nearby chests belonging to you or your clan. Far less hauling materials back and forth.
- Saddle dyeing. Added in the first patch on 19 May 2026, adopted from the community mod Fashionist.
Moving over from the old version
UE4 saves carry over to Enhanced. For the Exiled Lands, that means characters, bases and loot. Buildings on the Isle of Siptah did not transfer because the island’s coordinates changed.
One important caveat: the conversion only works one way. You can’t convert an Enhanced save back to the old version. If you want to keep a Legacy save as a backup, plan for that before you switch.
Purchases carried over in full: Crom Coins, Bazaar items, DLC and Twitch Drops. Mods are trickier, since Legacy mods have to be rebuilt for UE5 by their authors. Our guide to Enhanced mods covers how to enable them and why some of yours won’t load.
Consoles, Epic and Microsoft Store
Enhanced is PC-only on Steam for now. The Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, Xbox and PlayStation versions remain on Unreal Engine 4.
At launch, Funcom said it had no current plans for consoles but didn’t rule them out. On 18 September 2026, a community update said more about consoles would be revealed in October.
Players on Epic and the Microsoft Store can’t join official PC servers, because the client version has to match the server. They can still play solo, in co-op or on private servers.

Updates since launch
Update 2.2.0 on 15 September 2026 moved the game to Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and brought the Iris networking layer for better performance on full servers, new graphics options and new Bazaar bundles. It also forced every mod to be recooked. The hotfix on 17 September and hotfix 2.2.2 on 24 September dealt with the crashes that followed.
On the content side, the four-part story arc Legacy of the Giant-Kings is underway. Part One launched on 21 July 2026, and Part Two arrives on 6 October 2026 with rifts in enemy camps that lead into arenas, four new spells and the return of the Mi-Go, including a mini world boss, for both the Exiled Lands and Siptah.
