Insomniac has pushed Update 1.001.006 for Marvel’s Wolverine, and it finally hands you the switch players have been asking for since launch: you can now turn several parts of Logan’s Senses off completely. If you felt the game was pointing at every collectible instead of letting you look for it yourself, this patch is aimed directly at you.
Senses toggles are now in the gameplay settings
The scent trail tied to Logan’s tracking ability was one of the loudest talking points around the game. Critics and players alike argued that Marvel’s Wolverine held your hand too much, guiding you to specific spots on the map rather than letting you explore – something that stood out even more in a fairly linear game. Insomniac responded to the mixed reception by promising to “further refine” the game based on feedback.
Under gameplay settings you can now flip these Senses cues on or off individually:
- Whisky Bottle Scent Trails
- Material Crate Audio Clues
- Nightmare Door roots
There is one limit worth knowing about: story-critical Senses cannot be switched off and will still show up in the world, so you can’t accidentally lock yourself out of progressing the campaign. This isn’t the studio’s first pass at the problem either – an earlier hotfix already toned down scent trails before this full toggle arrived.
Crash fixes and the casino bathroom sign
Beyond the Senses options, Update 1.001.006 works through a batch of crashes identified from crash logs and community reports. It also fixes a spot in the mission “The One That Got Away” where you could get stuck while sliding down a tree, corrects misaligned claws in Photo Mode, and deals with a rare bug that made objects turn white after long play sessions.
One fix comes with its own backstory. A strangely rendered bathroom icon in the casino led to accusations that Insomniac had used AI-generated assets in Marvel’s Wolverine. The studio denied it, stating that no AI-generated assets were used and that the odd-looking sign was simply a UV mapping bug. That overlapping sign is now patched out.

The game is selling despite the noise
For all the criticism around launch, Marvel’s Wolverine looks like a commercial success. Sony and Insomniac haven’t published official numbers, but Rhys Elliot of Alinea Analytics estimates gross revenue at roughly $130 million, making it the sixth highest-grossing new PS5 release of 2026. Elliot also suggests the game could keep climbing thanks to the X-Men showing up in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film and Grand Theft Auto 6 driving extra PS5 sales. Profitability is still some way off, but that’s a stronger start than the negativity around the launch suggested. The game’s PlayStation Store page lists the current version.
