Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has had official mod support since 13 March 2025: Warhorse launched it with patch 1.2 through Steamworks, and the game has its own Steam Workshop. This guide shows how to install mods through the Workshop, which two mods reviewers mention most often and what to watch out for when a game update lands. It applies to PC (Steam) and reflects the state of things on 19 October 2026.
Official mod support since patch 1.2
Warhorse announced official modding on 12 February 2025 and launched it on 13 March 2025 together with patch 1.2, which also brought Barber Mode. Support runs through Steamworks, meaning directly through Steam, and the developers described it in a post on Steam.
For you, that means you find and install mods right inside Steam, in the game’s Workshop.
How to install mods through Steam Workshop
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has its own Steam Workshop. The process is simple:
- Open the game’s Workshop in Steam or in your browser.
- Find a mod and open its page.
- Read the description and the author’s instructions.
- Subscribe to the mod. The Workshop installs it for you.
- Launch the game.
Follow the instructions on each mod’s page. We don’t cover manual installation outside Steam here, the Workshop doesn’t need it.
The best-known KCD2 mods
PC Gamer and PCGamesN both list these two among the best-known mods:

- Unlimited Saving II – save any time, without Saviour Schnapps. Handy if limited saving slows you down more than it entertains you.
- Remove Fog of War – reveals the map, so you don’t have to explore every spot first.
Before installing either, check on the mod’s page that it’s up to date for your version of the game. We don’t go through other mods and their authors here, the selection keeps changing and we haven’t verified them from two sources.
If you want the game harder instead, you don’t need a mod. Hardcore Mode is free, with no position marker on the map and no fast travel.
Mods and game updates
Before updates, Warhorse reminds players: update your mods. Outdated mods can cause bugs after a patch or make the game unplayable. If the game crashes or behaves oddly after an update, turn your mods off first and switch them back on one by one.
Updates keep coming long after launch. Patch 1.5.6 from 25 June 2026, for example, added a new jester quest and Steam Controller support. After each patch like that, it’s worth checking whether the authors of your mods have released a new version.
Mods are PC-only
Mods are a PC thing: official support runs through Steam. You can’t install them on PS5 or Xbox. Whether your rig can handle the game is covered in our system requirements guide.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a single-player game. We covered the community multiplayer mod in our news.
Console commands as an alternative
Some things mods do, you can also handle through the console. In Steam, right-click the game, open Properties and type -devmode into Launch Options. In the game, open the console with the ~ key. Saving any time without Saviour Schnapps is enabled with wh_sys_NoSavePotion = 1.
Commands can break your save or quests, so save before you use them. The full list of verified commands is in our console commands guide.
