Battlefield 6 won’t launch, keeps crashing or won’t let you into a match? This guide collects Electronic Arts’ official fixes by type of error message: Secure Boot, EA Javelin anticheat, DirectX and drivers, sign-in, missing multiplayer, connection and matchmaking. Most errors are PC-specific, while the connection steps apply to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S too. Error messages are quoted exactly as the game shows them. Valid as of 19 October 2026.
Before you start: EA’s general steps
EA uses the same basic routine for every error, and it’s worth running through before you reinstall anything:

- Read the in-game message and follow what it suggests.
- Check the EA server status. If the servers are down, nothing on your end will fix it.
- Restart the game, then your whole system (PC or console).
- If nothing helps, reach support via “Contact Us” on EA Help.
EA doesn’t officially document the numeric error codes you’ll find on forums, so this guide goes by the wording of the message rather than by a number.
The game won’t start because of Secure Boot
On PC, Secure Boot has to be enabled, otherwise EA Javelin anticheat won’t let the game run. Quick check: press Win + R, type msinfo32 and look at System Summary. “BIOS Mode” should say UEFI and “Secure Boot State” should say On. Checking TPM 2.0, converting your drive from MBR to GPT and enabling Secure Boot in the BIOS are covered step by step in our Secure Boot guide. To see whether your PC meets the minimum at all, check the system requirements.
EA Javelin anticheat errors
Javelin is the anticheat Battlefield 6 requires on PC, and the game won’t run without it. EA separates several cases:
EA Javelin anticheat encountered an error
If you see EA Javelin anticheat encountered an error, or the same message ending in (94), EA recommends these three steps in order:
- Run the EA app as administrator, even if you bought the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store.
- Launch the game directly from the EA app.
- Reinstall EA Javelin anticheat (see below).
This software cannot be used at the same time as the game
The message This software cannot be used at the same time as the game means Javelin has found a disallowed program on your PC. EA names Interception, AutoHotkey and reWASD. Watch out for their “compatibility modes”: EA hasn’t approved them, and using them can lead to sanctions on your account. Close the program or restart your PC. What else is banned and how penalties work is explained in our Javelin and bans guide.
Installer Error #41 and #701
Error #41 shows up on Windows 11 Insider Preview builds that don’t have the renewed Windows Insider certificate. The fix is to install the latest Insider update and restart your PC.
Error #701 is tied to the Windows file system transaction log. Open Command Prompt as administrator and enter:
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:
Reinstalling Javelin manually
Download the EA Javelin anticheat installer, pick the game and choose Install. To uninstall, use C:Program FilesEAACEAAntiCheat.Installer.exe. Javelin needs Windows 10 20H1 (10.0.19041) or newer.
DirectX and graphics drivers
For DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG, EA recommends a full system restart. After that, make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements and that your graphics drivers are up to date. For AMD driver errors, EA advises installing the latest driver and removing old ones.
Can’t sign in
Sign-in errors cover an account signed in on several devices, invalid credentials or age restrictions. EA’s steps:
- Make sure you’re using the right EA account (on Steam it has to be linked to your Steam account).
- Turn on two-factor authentication.
- Sign out on your other devices.
- Restart your platform (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox) and the EA app.
Multiplayer not installed
According to EA, the Multiplayer not installed error has been fixed. If you still see it, go to Settings → Setup → Install/Uninstall → Edit in the game and tick the missing content. For corrupted files, untick the content and tick it again. Keep the game closed while it installs.
Connection, lag and matchmaking
If you can’t connect to EA servers or the connection times out, restart your router and the game, check the server status, switch from Wi-Fi to a cable and go through your firewall, VPN and NAT settings.
For lag, turn on ping in the scoreboard: Options → System → Network → Scoreboard Ping. You’ll then see ping next to player names. More tweaks for smooth performance are in our settings guide.
For full-server messages or global game quota exceeded, EA says the queue moves quickly. Refresh the server list, widen your filters, update the game and, if the message tells you to, turn on crossplay.
Red screen on a challenge
This isn’t a bug. A red challenge screen means you haven’t reached the required rank yet. You’ll find the rank you need in the top right corner.
When to contact EA
Once you’ve followed the steps for your message, restarted the game and your system, and the servers are up, contact support via “Contact Us”. EA keeps the full error article on EA Help. This guide sticks to the fixes EA officially documents, so you won’t find registry or config file tweaks here.

FAQ
Most often because Secure Boot is off or EA Javelin anticheat hits an error. Check in msinfo32 that BIOS Mode says UEFI and Secure Boot State says On, then run the EA app as administrator.
The anticheat can’t start the game or find the installation folder. EA recommends running the EA app as administrator, launching the game from the EA app and reinstalling Javelin if needed.
You don’t need the EA app to play on Steam, but you do need an EA account. For Javelin errors, though, EA recommends running the EA app as administrator even for the Steam version.
Check the server status page on EA Help. If the servers are down, wait it out, because restarting the game or router won’t help.
Contact support via Contact Us on EA Help. Include the exact wording of the message and what you’ve already tried.
