Elden Ring on PC needs at least an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X, 12 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 3 GB or RX 580 4 GB and 60 GB of storage. On Steam Deck it’s rated Verified. Below you’ll find the minimum and recommended specs from Steam, the Steam Deck ratings, what the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and the standalone Elden Ring Nightreign need, and known issues with the PC version. Everything is valid as of 20 October 2026.
Elden Ring PC requirements
These are the specs listed on Steam. Elden Ring requires 64-bit Windows and DirectX 12:
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 (64-bit) | Windows 10/11 |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 3 3300X | Intel Core i7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 4 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB / AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 8 GB |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
| Storage | 60 GB | 60 GB |
The game is Windows only. There’s no Mac or Linux version on Steam; how it runs on Steam Deck is covered below. The Steam version has full controller support, Steam Cloud saves, Family Sharing and achievements.
Shadow of the Erdtree: same requirements
On Steam, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC lists the same minimum and recommended specs as the base game, and also lists 60 GB of storage. Bandai Namco updated the requirements when the expansion launched on 20 June 2024. If the base game runs on your PC, the official specs don’t ask for a better machine for the DLC.
Elden Ring Nightreign requirements
Nightreign is a standalone game with its own requirements. It asks for a newer CPU, but the GPU and memory match the original Elden Ring and it needs half the storage:
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 | Windows 11 |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-10600 / AMD Ryzen 5 5500 | Intel Core i5-11500 / AMD Ryzen 5 5600 |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| GPU | GTX 1060 3 GB / RX 580 4 GB | GTX 1070 8 GB / RX Vega 56 8 GB |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
| Storage | 30 GB | 30 GB |
What kind of game Nightreign is, how three-player co-op works and what it costs is explained in our Nightreign guide.
Steam Deck: Verified and Playable
Valve rates each title separately, so the rating depends on what you’re playing:

| Game | Steam Deck rating | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Elden Ring | Verified | Controls, text legibility and default performance are all fine |
| Shadow of the Erdtree | Playable | Default settings aren’t fully performant and the game may not exit cleanly |
| Elden Ring Nightreign | Playable | Default performance isn’t ideal and some text is small |
So the base game runs on Deck without tweaking, while for the DLC and Nightreign you’ll probably want to adjust the settings.
Platforms and languages
Besides PC, Elden Ring launched on 25 February 2022 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. On Nintendo Switch 2, the Tarnished Edition came out on 28 August 2026. What each version and edition costs is covered in our guide to editions and prices.
On Steam the game has full English voice-over, and interface and subtitles in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Thai and Arabic.
Known PC issues
FromSoftware lists several known problems and fixes in its patch notes:
- The “Inappropriate activity detected” message can appear even if you haven’t cheated. The official fix: verify the integrity of the game files on Steam and restart the game. How the game deals with cheating is explained in our guide to cheats and anti-cheat.
- Unstable frame rate can be caused by third-party software that controls the mouse.
- The Ray Tracing Quality setting can lower performance.
