With the Phantom Liberty expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 has six endings: five in the base game and one more from the expansion. This guide explains when the ending is decided, why the main story alone is not enough and when to save so you can try more than one ending. The top part of the article is spoiler-free. The specific requirements for each ending only appear in a section with a clear warning. It applies to version 2.x on all platforms, as of 20 October 2026.
How many endings Cyberpunk 2077 has
The base game has five endings: four regular ones and one secret ending. Phantom Liberty adds a sixth, which is tied to the expansion’s story. Without Phantom Liberty you cannot reach it.
You can try every ending you have unlocked in a given playthrough, as long as you have a save from the right moment (more below).
When the ending is decided
You choose your ending in the final main mission, Nocturne OP55N1. Which options you get there depends on what you did before. Some endings only open up if you finished certain characters’ side job lines and built a good relationship with them.
The practical takeaway: if you only play the main story, you miss some of the endings. According to reviewers, the main story takes roughly 15–20 hours, or around 40–50 hours with the major side lines. Our playtime guide goes into more detail.
The point of no return: save your game
Before Nocturne OP55N1, the game warns you that you are at a point of no return. Before you confirm, make a manual save and do not overwrite it. From that save you can replay the finale and pick another path without starting the whole game again.

If you want as many options as possible, finish the side lines of the characters you have befriended before this point. Relationship requirements are covered in our romance guide.
The Phantom Liberty ending
The Phantom Liberty expansion adds a new ending to the main game. Its requirements involve decisions inside the expansion’s story, so they are in the spoiler section below. In a new game the expansion only opens after the main mission Transmission. If you want this ending, you need to play Phantom Liberty in the same playthrough before Nocturne OP55N1. How to start the expansion is covered in our Phantom Liberty guide.

Requirements for each ending (spoilers)
Warning: spoilers from here on. We name characters, missions and the requirements that unlock each ending. We do not describe what happens in the endings. If you want to go in blind, skip straight to the FAQ.
| Ending | What unlocks it |
|---|---|
| Arasaka ending (Hanako) | Always available once you reach Nocturne OP55N1. |
| Nomad ending | Panam’s questline completed, including Queen of the Highway. |
| Johnny and Rogue ending | A good relationship with Johnny (the Chippin’ In questline; IGN puts it at above 70%) and a good relationship with Rogue (the mission Blistering Love). |
| Secret ending | A very good relationship with Johnny. |
| Refusing every option | Always available, you simply turn down every path offered on the rooftop. |
| The Tower (Phantom Liberty) | Finish Phantom Liberty so that both Songbird and Reed survive (the key choice is in the mission Firestarter), then accept Reed’s offer of an operation. |
How to keep every option open
- Finish Panam’s questline up to Queen of the Highway before the finale.
- Do the missions with Johnny, especially the Chippin’ In line.
- Build your relationship with Rogue and play through Blistering Love.
- If you own Phantom Liberty and want The Tower, think carefully about your decision in Firestarter.
- Make a separate save before Nocturne OP55N1.
If an option is missing in the finale, check the table to see which requirement you have not met. Go back to your save from before the point of no return, finish the line and start the finale again.
