Cyberpunk 2077 AutoDrive, Delamain cabs and the metro: getting around Night City

Getting around Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 no longer means doing all the driving yourself. Since version 2.3, your own car can drive you with AutoDrive, you can call a self-driving Delamain Cab, and since version 2.1 there’s the NCART metro. This guide explains how to turn these on and unlock them, where to buy cars on AUTOFIXER and how to get the four vehicles added in Update 2.3. Everything comes from the official patch notes and applies to the current version 2.31.

Cyberpunk 2077 — Update 2.3 Features Overview

AutoDrive: a car that drives itself

AutoDrive arrived with Update 2.3. It works in any vehicle you own, as long as you’re on the road:

  • On PC, hold G. On a controller, hold the left stick.
  • With an active quest objective or map marker, the car drives you there.
  • Without a destination, it simply cruises around the city.

AutoDrive doesn’t work in combat or when your car is badly damaged. While it’s driving, you can switch to a cinematic camera: hold Q on PC or D-pad right on a controller.

Patch 2.31 improved AutoDrive. The car drives more smoothly, overtakes and no longer stops at traffic lights when heading to a destination. In free-roam driving without a destination, it follows the rules of the road. Everything else both patches brought is in our Update 2.3 overview.

Delamain cabs: how to unlock and call one

Self-driving Delamain cabs also came with version 2.3. They unlock once you finish the mission Don’t Lose Your Mind, regardless of how it ends. After that, you get a message from Delamain and the cab becomes available.

You call it the same way as your own car: open the vehicle summoning menu and pick the Delamain Cab. It’s handy when your own ride isn’t nearby or you just don’t feel like driving.

NCART metro

The NCART metro was added in Update 2.1 in December 2023. It has 19 stations across 5 lines. At a station, you choose whether to fast travel or actually ride the train. Either way, you don’t need a car.

AUTOFIXER: where to buy cars

Since version 2.0, you buy cars through the AUTOFIXER website. You’ll find it:

  • on the computer in V’s apartment,
  • on terminals at gas stations and repair shops (use the Autofixer filter on the map to find them).

The selection grows as your Street Cred goes up, so you won’t see everything at the start and more vehicles unlock over time. If you’re just getting started, our beginner’s guide covers the first hours.

New cars in Update 2.3 and how to get them

Update 2.3 added four vehicles, most of them tied to a side quest. Mission names are given as they appear in the official patch notes:

VehicleHow to get it
Yaiba ARV-Q340 SemimaruSide quest that unlocks after The Hunt and The Beast in Me
Rayfield Caliburn “Mordred”Side quest after The Beast in Me: Badlands, The Beast in Me: Santo Domingo, Transmission and Search and Destroy
Yaiba ASM-R250 MuramasaBuy one Yaiba and at least three vehicles in total on AUTOFIXER, then complete Reported Crime: You Play with Fire…; if the quest fails, you can buy the bike
Chevillon Legatus 450 AquilaBuy it on AUTOFIXER

Transmission is also the mission after which Songbird calls you in a new playthrough and the expansion opens up. More in our Phantom Liberty guide.

CrystalCoat and TWINTONE: repainting your car

CrystalCoat lets you change your car’s colour. Since version 2.2 it also works on Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra and Villefort vehicles, and since 2.3 on partner brands including motorcycles. TWINTONE lets you save the colour scheme of a car you scan out in the city. Vehicles that support CrystalCoat have a spray can icon on AUTOFIXER.

Races

Since version 2.1, races are repeatable. They unlock once you finish The Beast in Me, and you’ll spot them on the map by their flag icons. Winning earns you eurodollars and a discount on AUTOFIXER, which makes races a cheaper way to grow your garage.

Vehicle combat

Since Update 2.0, you can shoot from your car. While driving you can use pistols and SMGs, some vehicles have mounted weapons, and on a motorcycle you can fight in melee. You can also shoot out enemy tyres. Keep in mind that since 2.0 the NCPD also chases you in cars after a crime.

Johnny as a passenger

Since version 2.2, Johnny occasionally rides along in the passenger seat once you’ve finished Act 1. If he bothers you, since version 2.3 you can send him away and he disappears for a few days.
