As of 20 October 2026, DayZ has two paid expansions: DayZ Frostline with the Sakhal map, and DayZ Badlands with the Nasdara map, released on 15 October 2026. Livonia used to be a separate DLC, but it is now part of the base game. This guide explains what each expansion adds, what it costs on Steam, what you get for free without buying anything, and where Game Pass fits in.

Livonia is no longer DLC
Livonia is a densely forested map. Since update 1.25 on 27 May 2024 it has been part of the base game and is no longer sold separately. Existing owners of the base game received Livonia for free, and those who already owned both the game and Livonia also got the soundtrack. The base game price went up at the same time. If you buy DayZ now, you get both maps straight away.
DayZ Frostline: Sakhal
DayZ Frostline launched on 15 October 2024 on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation. It added the third official map, Sakhal, a frozen volcanic archipelago in the far east covering 83 km².

- Cold. Temperatures usually sit below zero, and the cold is the main threat.
- Frozen food. Food is scarce and mostly frozen, so you have to thaw it before eating.
- Volcanoes. The volcanic landscape brings contamination.
- Hunting and fishing. Three new animals to hunt and two new fish species.
You can only join servers running Sakhal if you own Frostline. Bohemia has, however, made the Sakhal assets free for the community to use personally on their own servers and maps.
DayZ Badlands: Nasdara
DayZ Badlands launched on 15 October 2026 on all platforms. Its map, Nasdara, covers 267 km² and is the largest official DayZ map. Bohemia calls it the largest terrain it has ever worked on for DayZ. It is an arid desert landscape west of Chernarus, near the Takistan border.

- Sandstorms and new medical threats: heatstroke and silicosis, plus regional diseases.
- Water shortage. You need water to drink, to cool down and to rinse your eyes after a sandstorm. Seek shelter in the shade.
- Rebuilding. Nearly 5,000 structures can be rebuilt, including wells and irrigation tunnels.
- Morse code. Your personal radio picks up transmissions that lead to underground bunkers.
- New gear and wildlife. Weapons from the Lee-Enfield to the SCR, new clothing, and mouflons, desert monitors and dogs.

What you get for free without DLC
Both expansions arrived alongside a major update that changed the whole game for every player:
- 1.26 (with Frostline): inflatable boats, less storage space in clothing and backpacks, and regional loot. Sakhal has warm clothing and mostly eastern gear, Livonia mostly summer clothing and western gear, and Chernarus a mix of both.
- 1.30 (with Badlands): motorbikes (a moped and an enduro) with ragdoll physics when you crash, more than 150 reworked inventory icons and adjusted animations for the infected.
