What is free and what costs money
The Finals is a free-to-play first-person shooter from Embark Studios, set in a virtual TV game show. You download it and play without paying a cent, with all core gameplay content available right away.
According to Embark, only cosmetic items cost money: weapon and outfit skins, emotes, bundles, the Premium Battle Pass and older Legacy Battle Passes. You buy them with the in-game currency Multibucks. On top of that there are DLCs, mainly the Ultimate Battle Pass and premium cosmetic bundles. Embark states clearly that the game is not pay-to-win. Keep in mind, though, that in-game purchases are non-refundable.
Battle Pass and Multibucks
Every player gets the Free Battle Pass automatically. The Premium Battle Pass costs 1,150 Multibucks in game. The Ultimate Battle Pass is a separate DLC that includes the Premium pass, 20 instant levels, a 25 % Match XP boost for the whole season and 1,000 Multibucks. If you upgrade from Premium to Ultimate, Embark refunds 1,150 Multibucks.
Passes from past seasons return as Legacy Battle Passes. Unlocking one costs 1,150 Multibucks, and you then buy its items with Show Tokens, which you earn by playing. What the current pass contains is covered in our Season 12 overview.

The Season 12 Starter Pack on Steam contains 3 legendary weapon skins, 1 epic Season 12 sticker and 1,150 Multibucks, exactly the price of the Premium Battle Pass. On consoles the Ultimate Battle Pass Bundle is sold as DLC in the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store as well; in the Czech stores it costs 739 CZK.
Platforms you can play on
- PC: Steam, Windows only. There is no Mac or Linux version. The game supports controllers and Family Sharing. Check our article on system requirements for the hardware you need.
- PlayStation 5: free, marked PS5 Pro Enhanced. Online play is required and the PlayStation Store lists up to 24 online players.
- Xbox Series X/S: free in the Microsoft Store, with 120 fps and ray tracing support.
You can no longer play The Finals on PS4: the PS4 version ended with the start of Season 10 in March 2026. The game is also available through GeForce NOW.
Crossplay and Embark ID step by step
According to Embark support, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S play together in the same matches. To team up with a friend on another platform:
- Both of you switch on Settings, Gameplay, Network, Crossplay.
- Open Social and select Add Friend.
- Add your friend via their Embark ID. Friendships on Steam, PSN or Xbox are not enough.
Playing in a party pays off: two players get +7.5 % XP, three or more get +10 % XP. Progress and purchases are tied to your Embark ID and carry over between platforms. PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass rewards
You do not need a subscription to play, the game is free on consoles too. Subscribers do get extra cosmetics:
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: cosmetic rewards via Perks, with a code you redeem at id.embark.games.
- PlayStation Plus: cosmetic DLC rewards for members.
The contents of these rewards change over time, so check the current offer in your subscription.
Refunds and purchase problems
Only the platform you bought from, meaning Steam, PlayStation or Xbox, can refund you. Embark does not issue refunds. Banned accounts are not eligible for a refund. Sort out purchase or DLC problems with the platform first, too; Embark can only help once the platform has confirmed the purchase.
