Season 1 of Call of Duty: Warzone goes live at 0000 (midnight) ET on November 6 (2100 PT on November 5) and it is the biggest reset the battle royale has seen in a while. The free-to-play shooter gets full integration with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a brand new large-scale map set on the Korean Peninsula, a fresh Resurgence battleground and a pile of new gear, Perks and systems.
Full integration with Modern Warfare 4
The integration touches almost everything. Here is what lands at launch on November 6:
- Player Level reset, so you level up and optionally Prestige across Multiplayer, DMZ and Call of Duty: Warzone.
- Access to all 33 Modern Warfare 4 launch weapons plus the extra armaments arriving in Season 1, each with Weapon Prestige and dedicated Call of Duty: Warzone Mastery Camos.
- Apex Attachments.
- Season 1 Operators.
- Daily Challenges and Calling Card Challenges.
- Battle Pass and BlackCell progress.
Gameplay gets adjusted too. Tactical Sprint is now available to every Operator without needing a Perk, although its duration is slightly shorter. You can drag downed allies out of harm’s way while reviving them, weapon balance has been tuned further, and the teams improved visibility and readability across all maps as well as footstep audio.
Carry Forward and Legacy Weapons
Operators, Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints, plus Calling Cards, Emblems, Operator Finishing Moves, Emotes, Sprays, Parachutes and Contrails from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 carry into Call of Duty: Warzone from Season 1. The new Operator Skin Toggle gives you more control over which skins you actually see – we covered the Operator Skin Toggle in a separate article.
Weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 stay accessible in the Legacy tab of the Loadout menu. They are usable, but they cannot be edited in Gunsmith and do not support Mastery Camos, Reticle Challenges, Weapon Customization, Cosmetic Gunsmithing or Build Sharing and Build Codes. They are not left bare, though: each Legacy base weapon gets a five-attachment version, and Blueprints keep their existing attachment setups. All these Legacy Blueprints start locked and unlock through Player XP in the Armory.
New Battle Royale map: Hajin
For the first time, Call of Duty: Warzone heads to the Korean Peninsula. Hajin is a new large-scale map narratively tied to the Modern Warfare 4 Campaign, with 13 major Points of Interest spread across both North and South Korea. You will move through crowded city streets, abandoned buildings, open farmland, winding rivers and forested hills.
Hajin City’s central districts are full of towering buildings, barricaded roads and heavily fortified spots that reward coordinated squads. Rural areas like Imjin Farmland are far more exposed, so long-range engagements and careful use of cover matter. Across the border the mood shifts at locations such as the 14th Political Prison, Chang-san Air Base and Deadtown.
DMZ players already know Hajin, but the Battle Royale version differs in how the Edge Circle and Gas move through a match, in the lack of a radioactive cloud at the Hanuel Nuclear Reactor, in the available vehicles, and in the distribution of interactable objects and loot caches.
Weather and the Hajin Gulag
Hajin runs variable weather patterns – clear skies, fog, wind, rain and distant storms – which change the look and feel of each deployment. The developers say visibility stays a central factor no matter what the weather throws at you. If you want to squeeze out every bit of clarity, our guide to the best Warzone settings is worth a look.
A new map also means a new Gulag. Eliminated Operators land in one of two versions of the Hajin Gulag, and for the first time you can spectate from ground level before your 1v1 duel. One variant uses partial walls over open ground, the other sturdier sheds over a flagstone walkway. Both are symmetrical, both are exposed to local weather, and plenty of obstacles can be mantled. Win and you redeploy; lose and you are out.
New Resurgence map: Zodiac
Zodiac is a compact combat zone built around the DRC Advanced Systems drone assembly and manufacturing headquarters in South Korea. It mixes sprawling factory interiors, research facilities, elevated rooftops, underground tunnels and coastal terrain across ten Points of Interest: Admin, Trackline, Furnace, Solar, Old Mines, Dispatch, Depot, Sentinel, Cooling and R&D.
At the heart of the map, Trackline’s double railway and moving trains add an unpredictable layer. Underground tunnels let squads slip beneath the battlefield and pop out from unexpected angles, while moving solar panels, furnace conveyor belts and explosive fuel barrels turn the environment into a weapon. Zodiac was developed by Beenox in close collaboration with Infinity Ward, the same experience that produced Rebirth Island and Vondel.
Verdansk and Rebirth Island return in-season
Verdansk comes back later in Season 1, its skyline now marked by the Signal Station, the Grazna-7 Launch Complex, the Overlook skyscraper and the high-tech Drone Labs. Rebirth Island also returns, bringing close-quarters fights back across the prison, control center and surrounding industrial compounds, complete with navigable waterways and hidden passages.
New gameplay features at launch
Two new Field Upgrades headline the list. The Zipline Launcher lets you fire anchors and create a zipline to scale high points or cross terrain. It stays active until retrieved or destroyed and anyone can use it – including enemy Operators – so watch any line that appears near you. You can use your Pistol while riding it.
The Grabber Drone is a rare drone with a claw that picks up loot, environmental objects and even other Operators. Drag a downed teammate closer for the revive, grab hard-to-reach weapons or pull Buy Station loot toward you. Battery life is limited, so pick your moments.
New interactive objects expand what you can do with the environment: Fuel Barrels can be moved around (and carried by the Grabber Drone) then detonated when enemies get close, while Dumpsters, Concrete Cylinders and more can be pushed and pulled into cover positions, platforms or roadblocks that stop vehicles. Most of them show up on Hajin, Zodiac and Verdansk.
Grind for Royalty, Weapon Augments and Ground Ops
Grind for Royalty generates individual challenges based on your own player stats and resets every season, so you keep chasing personal records. Season 1 rewards are the “Gold Excellence” and “Gold Mosaic” Weapon Camos – one static, one animated.
Weapon Augments arrive via “Fly Buy” portable Buy Stations dropped by drones flying across the map. They are limited, and Season 1 offers three:
- CQC Augment: faster ADS and sprint to fire speed, reduced hipfire recoil, faster ADS movement speed.
- Marksman Augment: improved bullet velocity and damage range, reduced horizontal recoil, reduced aiming idle sway.
- Handling Augment: faster reload and rechamber, faster slide to fire, reduced first shot recoil, less weapon bob and flinch.
Ground Ops are discoverable activities scattered across the map: high value safes you can drill, surveillance towers that reveal enemy positions and legendary loot chests, drones you can shoot down for cargo, and radioactive barrels you track with a Geiger counter.
Resurgence gets two extras. The Weapon Trade Station swaps your equipped weapon for one of improved rarity with extra attachments, and Drop Kits buff your next redeploy in four flavors: Insured (faster redeploy with all your cash), Loadout (redeploy with your current Loadout), Armored (full armor, bonus Perks and a Self-Revive) and Radar (active Radar Ping and supply sweep).
Modes at launch
Battle Royale and Resurgence stay the backbone. Battle Royale and Battle Royale Casual run on Hajin and Verdansk, Resurgence and Resurgence Casual on Zodiac and Rebirth Island. On top of that come three limited-time modes:
- Rally Point (Zodiac, max 20 players) – a no-circle, infinite Resurgence, drop-in/drop-out training ground. Complete contracts, fight Hostile Soldiers, beat your own elimination high score, run into Hostile Choppers, JLTV Deliveries and Elite Hostile Reinforcements. Neutral Grounds let you take a breather or form alliances of up to 4 players. There is an exclusive weapon blueprint and two weapon camos to unlock here.
- Massive Resurgence (Hajin, max 120 players) – loot, redeploy allies, reposition as the gas closes and outlast every rival squad. An excellent mode for learning the new map.
- Loaded Resurgence (Zodiac / Rebirth Island, max 44 players) – infil with your chosen Loadout, keep your weapons after death, earn Perks through eliminations and build toward Specialist.
Two more LTMs, Extreme Resurgence and Rockets and Snipers, arrive in the Mid-Season.
Rally Point is clearly aimed at new and returning players, and if you are in that group, our Warzone beginner tips pair well with it.
Perks and the new Elite Perks
There are 18 Perks in total. The first 15 are selectable in your Loadout before a match and fit into three slots.
Perk 1: Field Medic, Hunter, Stocked, Incognito, Surveyor.
Perk 2: Mountaineer, Adaptive, Scavenger, Drill Instructor, Deft Hands.
Perk 3: Berserker, Quick Fix, Survivor, Tempered, Wingman.
The remaining three are Elite Perks, which add a fourth Perk slot and can only be found during a match – at Buy Stations or through completing Supply Run Contracts. Only one can be equipped at a time:
- Athleticism: more agile strafing, crouching and ADS, with reduced ADS penalties for jumping and sliding.
- Phantom: undetectable by enemy recon Killstreaks, equipment and Perks.
- Fieldcraft: rapidly regenerate armor and equipment for sustained combat.
Equipment, Field Upgrades and Killstreaks
Season 1 reshuffles the gear list. Tacticals (8) are Flash Grenade, Smoke Grenade, Snapshot Grenade, Concussion Grenade, Heartbeat Sensor, Shock Stick, Stim and Screamer Mine. Lethals (10) are Frag Grenade, Sticky Grenade, Drill Charge, Proximity Mine, Trip Wire, Thermite, Molotov Cocktail, Claymore, C4 and Throwing Knife.
There are 13 Field Upgrades, found as loot or bought at Buy Stations. New with MW4: Grabber Drone, Perk Supply Box, Razor Wire, Redeploy Drone and Redeploy Drone Beacon (Hajin Massive Resurgence and Rally Point only), SAM Airburst Turret, Smoke Wall and Zipline Launchers. Returning: Armor Box, Munitions Box, Portable Radar, Recon Drone, Trophy System and Utility Box.
Killstreaks number nine. New with MW4 are the Aerial Scanner (Rally Point only), Artillery Beacon, Bomb Glider, Bombing Run, Combat Drone and Impact Warhead, joined by the returning Advanced UAV, CUAV and UAV. Special Items stay familiar: Armor Satchel, Gas Mask, Self-Revive and Armor Plate.
Vehicles
Land, water and air are all covered. The lineup includes the Sedan (4 seats), Grizzly (4), Polaris DAGOR (4), Cargo Truck (2), LTV (4, with an optional mounted.50 Cal), Aston Martin Dreadnought (4), Heli (5) and the RHIB (4).
Mastery Camos and the Return event
Season 1 introduces Call of Duty: Warzone Mastery Camos. Once you have the Military, Special and Completionist camos for a weapon, the Mastery grind opens up and can be completed with any weapon or combination of weapons:
- Parallax: complete all Harmonic Break Camo Challenges, acquire the Divergence Completionist camo, then get 5 kills in a match 300 times.
- Damascus Reforged: complete the Mastery 1 challenge, then get 2 kills without plating 200 times.
- Empyros: complete the Mastery 2 challenge, then place in the top 5 with at least 6 kills 75 times.
On top of that, the in-game Return to Call of Duty: Warzone Event hands out the “Renaissance” (animated), “Violet Striker” and “Neutral Ground” Weapon Camos, with more events planned throughout the season.
