AION 2’s September 16, 2026 update adds new Abyss weapons and guards, increases several progression rewards, and adjusts every class. Templar and Assassin receive longer skill-cancel delays alongside PvE damage buffs, while the two bosses in Snowfield of Sorrow on Easy difficulty lose 10% of their health.
The notes also introduce a new Daeva Pass and a substantial batch of Sanctuary fixes. The September 16 revision at 11:49 explicitly adds Directive quests to the Soul Crystal reward increase. If you’re looking for the game’s store listing, you can visit AION 2 Steam.
This breakdown follows the Korean update notes. English names for skills, equipment, and activities are descriptive translations where an official English name is not supplied.

Abyss, Rift Contest and activity changes
Space-Time Rift Contest
You now earn substantially more points for attacking the Monolith. While you are participating in the contest, movement outside the region where it is taking place is restricted. The notes do not give an exact multiplier for the Monolith score increase.
Abyss drops and contribution rewards
- Abyss monsters can drop non-engraved Potential Amplification Stone: Abyss items in Heroic and Unique grades.
- Some medal amounts awarded through class-based contribution rankings are increased for Abyss bosses, Artifact Sieges, and the Space-Time Rift Contest.
Shugo Festa and Sanctuary
- Shugo Festa’s Mysterious Track receives adjustments to object placement, including obstacles that could interfere with normal driving.
- In Snowfield of Sorrow on Easy difficulty, Returning Triton and Deltras each have 10% less health.
For the preceding update, you can read our September 9 breakdown, which covers the Sanctuary and Abyss changes from that patch.
New Abyss equipment and stronger set bonuses
[True] Guardian/Archon Praetorian Commander equipment
New [True] Guardian/Archon Praetorian Commander weapons and guards are added. You can purchase them from the Abyss Exchange Shop or create them through inheritance crafting using Elite Guardian/Archon Praetorian Commander weapons and Guardian/Archon Praetorian Commander weapons or guards as materials.
PvE Abyss Damage Amplification
The update increases the 12-piece bonus on the applicable Abyss equipment sets. The full values listed in the notes are:
- Decurion: 15% at 2 pieces and 20% at 5 pieces; no 8-piece or 12-piece value is listed.
- Centurion: 15% at 2 pieces, 20% at 5 pieces, and 25% at 8 pieces; no 12-piece value is listed.
- Tribunus: 20% at 2 pieces, 25% at 5 pieces, 30% at 8 pieces, and 45% at 12 pieces.
- Brigade General: 25% at 2 pieces, 30% at 5 pieces, 35% at 8 pieces, and 50% at 12 pieces.
- Praetorian Commander: 30% at 2 pieces, 35% at 5 pieces, 40% at 8 pieces, and 55% at 12 pieces.
These values apply specifically to PvE Abyss Damage Amplification, not to a general damage bonus everywhere in the game.
Soul Crystals, pet rewards and enhancement stones
More Soul Crystals and pet boxes
- Odium Storage, the daily dungeon, awards twice as many Growth Pet Boxes (Engraved) as before.
- Soul Crystals in Shop → Breeze Trading Company → Special now cost 500 Kinah, and the purchase limit rises to 30,000.
- Soul Crystal rewards from Mission and Directive quests are increased to three times their previous amounts.
The correction added at 11:49 on September 16 confirms that Directive quests are included. The notes do not specify a reset period for the shop’s 30,000-item purchase limit.
Additional Manastone and Soulstone sources
- Greater Manastones (Engraved) and Greater Soulstones (Engraved) can be purchased from the Nightmare Exchange Shop and the Shugo Festa Shop.
- Lesser Manastones and Lesser Soulstones are added to Supply Requests’ emergency rewards.
If you want a separate explanation of these equipment systems, our enhancement stone guide covers Manastones, Soulstones, and Theostones.
Class balance changes
The class changes include damage buffs, specialization adjustments, and fixes to skills that could be used while rooted. For a broader overview, you can also consult our class guide.
Gladiator
- Leaping Slam and Devastating Blow can no longer be used while rooted.
- Ankle Slash can no longer be used while rooted when specialization 3 is active.
- Ankle Slash’s specialization 3 range increase now applies correctly when specializations 1, 2, and 3 are equipped together.
Templar
The developers are adjusting cancel timing and balance to discourage mouse macros used for the Continuous Strike–Judgment cancel sequence.
- Continuous Strike and Retributive Strike: skill-cancel delay increases.
- With specialization 4, the Punishment cooldown reduction triggered by a Retributive Strike hit also applies to Continuous Strike.
- Specialization 5 changes from triggering Retributive Strike one additional time to dealing additional damage on hit.
- Judgment: skill-cancel delay increases.
- Protective Strike, Annihilation, and Punishment: PvE damage increases by 10%.
- Shield Bash: PvE damage increases by 20%.
- Noble Armor: both duration and cooldown change from 5 minutes to 2 minutes.
- Taunt: its threat increase changes from a fixed amount to an amount proportional to damage dealt.
If you play Templar, the key change is the combination of longer cancel delays and higher PvE damage on several attacks. The notes do not quantify the overall effect on a full rotation.
Assassin
Assassin receives a similar adjustment aimed at discouraging mouse macros used for the Beast’s Roar–Heart Stab cancel sequence.
- Beast’s Roar, Beast’s Swipe, and Heart Stab: skill-cancel delay increases.
- Quick Slash, Soul Severing Slash, Swift Slash, and Rune Explosion: PvE damage increases by 10%.
- Ambush: specialization 2’s duration increases from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
Ranger
- Aimed Arrow: fixes specialization 5’s additional damage failing to trigger multiple hits unless specialization 4 was also equipped.
- Binding Trap: fixes its missing combat message.
Ranger attack skills also receive elemental damage attributes. The notes assign them as follows:
- Wind: Rapid Shot, Quick Shot, Spiral Arrow, Gale Arrow, Lightning Arrow, Target Arrow, Arrow Barrage, Tempest Arrow, Rupture Arrow, Suppression Arrow, Aimed Arrow, Focused Barrage, Binding Eye, Close-Range Shot, Hunter’s Soul, Arrow Storm, Surprise Kick, Phantom Arrow, Sealing Arrow, Assault Strike, Support Fire, and Retreating Slash.
- Earth: Snare Arrow, Shackling Arrow, Explosive Trap, and Binding Trap.
- Fire: Piercing Arrow, Gryphon Arrow, and Explosive Arrow.
Brawler
The following skills can no longer be used while rooted: Iron Mountain Strike, Ascending Strike, Air-Cleaving Slash, Flash Step, Stomp, Shadow-Cutting Fist, and Gale Strike.
Chanter
Protective Blessing’s duration and cooldown both change from 5 minutes to 2 minutes.
Cleric
- Radiance of Recovery: specialization 2 changes from 20% increased skill speed to one additional consecutive cast.
- Judgment Lightning and Heavenly Punishment: fixes an issue in mobile Combat Support where repeated use of these skills prevented other skills from being used.
Sorcerer
- Frigid Wind, Ice Storm, and Wall of Fire: fixes an intermittent issue where monsters would not reset while these skills were active.
- For the Flame Arrow / Incineration / Intense Flame entry, specialization 4 no longer applies Fire Mark when Intense Flame hits. Instead, casting Intense Flame increases Fire Damage Amplification by 5% for 10 seconds.
- Flame Explosion no longer removes Fire Mark on hit.
- Fire Mark, the passive skill, now applies its effect with a 100% chance on fire-element attacks, up from 20%.
For Sorcerer, the important mechanical changes are guaranteed Fire Mark application from fire attacks and Flame Explosion no longer consuming the effect.
