Creative Assembly is dusting off one of the most beloved entries in the Total War series. Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition arrives on October 13 and lands on Steam, the Epic Games Store, GOG and the Microsoft Store at once, bringing the samurai wars back in a technically upgraded package.
Price, discounts and what current owners get
The Complete Edition will sell for EUR 39.99. If the original Shogun 2 is already sitting in your digital library, you can grab the new package with a 75% discount during the first month after release. On top of that, existing owners receive all DLC for the original game for free.
There is one exception: the Blood Pack, the add-on that paints the battlefield red, is not part of the bundle. Sega says it was left out because of age rating restrictions.
Steam works a little differently
On Steam, the original Shogun 2 will stop being sold separately from September 28. You will still be able to get it, though – buying the Complete Edition also drops the original game into your library. Nothing changes for people who already own it.
Three campaigns and 700 years of history
The Complete Edition bundles the base game together with all of its additional content, which means three separate campaigns. Beyond unifying Japan during the Sengoku era, you can head back to the Genpei War in 1175 and finish with the Boshin War, where tradition collides with creeping industrialization on the battlefield. In total, Shogun 2 spans more than 700 years of Japanese history.

The Mod.io integration makes installing modifications far simpler, but it comes with one important downside: mods built for the original release will not be compatible with the new version.
