Pokemon GO is handing out a free redemption code that unlocks a set of timed research. Complete it and you’ll get an encounter with a costumed Charmander – but you don’t have much time, because the code stops working before the end of September.
The code and how to redeem it
The code is 0004POKEMONGO. You redeem it on the offer redemption page in the Pokemon GO webstore, and the whole thing costs you nothing. After redeeming, the timed research appears in your game, and finishing it leads to an encounter with Charmander wearing Professor Friede’s goggles. You can then evolve that Charmander into Charmeleon and further into Charizard.
The deadline matters: the code must be redeemed before September 22, 8 PM local time. Like previous free codes, this one won’t stick around forever.
Why Charmander is wearing goggles
The campaign ties into the return of Pokemon Horizons: The Series in Season 3: Part 4. To mark it, Pokemon GO has been featuring special Charmander and Pikachu encounters based on characters from the anime. Charmander and its evolutions wear Professor Friede’s goggles, and Captain Pikachu has also shown up in the game recently – Friede’s partner, co-pilot of the Brave Olivine, co-founder of the Rising Volt Tacklers, and a Pokemon who famously can’t stand being called cute.
September has been packed

What’s coming next
Twilight Trails keeps rolling with more big events, including the return of the popular Wild Area. Starting in November, the Wild Area heads to Sendai and Tohoku in Japan, then Mexico City in Mexico, with a special Global version the following weekend. Wild Area 2026 runs on a steel and dragon theme, featuring Dynamax Palkia and Dialga, Hisuian Sliggoo, Hisuian Goodra, and a special Machamp in a modern jacket.
Scopely has also confirmed October’s Community Day. After Gible showed up for this month’s Classic event, October belongs to Zorua – Saturday, October 10, from 2 to 5 PM local time. Evolve Zorua during the event or within an hour after it ends and your Zoroark will know Sucker Punch as its Fast Attack. Additional bonuses and field research will be available too.
