It has been exactly one year since you first set foot in Castor Woods. Techland is marking the first anniversary of Dying Light: The Beast with a three-week in-game celebration, free rewards, the deepest discount the game has seen so far – and one thing the title did not have at launch: an actual physical edition with a disc for PlayStation 5.
Three physical editions for PS5
The disc version is coming out of a partnership between Techland and Super Rare Games, and it comes in three flavors. All of them contain the Definitive Edition of Dying Light: The Beast, meaning the game together with every post-launch update released so far.
- Standard Edition – the PS5 game plus a printed manual, with no cap on preorder quantity.
- Super Rare Games Edition – adds an SRG sticker, an exclusive metallic slipcover and a numbered SRG release. Quantity is limited.
- Anniversary Edition – also limited, and bundled with a pile of physical items inspired by Castor Woods.
The Anniversary Edition is the big one for collectors. Inside the box you get the PS5 game on disc, the full soundtrack on a double disc, two Dying Light pins, glow-in-the-dark stickers, an A4 hardcover artbook, two stickers, a physical Castor Woods map, six bloody postcards, an A2 double-sided poster, an SRG game sticker and a woven Castor Woods patch.
Preorders are open now. The limited Super Rare Games and Anniversary Editions stay orderable through October 16, and the final print runs will be announced once the ordering window closes – so the number produced depends on how many of you actually order.
Call of the Beast: Anniversary Edition
The in-game side of the party is an event called Call of the Beast: Anniversary Edition. It runs for three weeks and is built around global community goals plus weekend boons that players vote for themselves. Hitting each weekly goal unlocks anniversary rewards, including a unique outfit and a weapon inspired by Castor Woods.
The kickoff is a Double XP Event running from September 18 through September 21. On top of that, Daily Crane’s Anniversary Drops hand you a surprise just for logging in – a mix of in-game items and digital anniversary goodies – and every Friday brings an exclusive weapon you can use during Call of the Beast. Free weapon pack and the biggest discount yet
Techland is also giving away the Discharge Weapon Pack for free. You can claim it on Steam, the PlayStation Store and Xbox between September 17 and September 24 – after that the window closes.
Haven’t jumped into Castor Woods yet? The anniversary brings the game’s lowest price so far: 50% off on all platforms through September 26. The full Dying Light Franchise Bundle, which packs Dying Light, Dying Light 2: Stay Human and Dying Light: The Beast together, is discounted by up to 70% over the same period. If you already own the game, the next few weeks are the best time to come back: double XP over the opening weekend, daily login drops, weekly community goals with cosmetic and weapon rewards, and a free weapon pack you only need to click on. If you have been waiting for a price drop, this is the deepest one yet – and if you like your games on a shelf rather than in a library, the PS5 disc editions are the first and, for the limited ones, a time-boxed opportunity.
