Yu-Gi-Oh! is finally getting its own official LEGO set, and the star of it is exactly the monster you would expect: Exodia. LEGO Ideas has announced the winner of its Yu-Gi-Oh! themed contest, and the build that came out on top is “The Heart of the Cards — Exodia” by user Step_on_a_Brick.
What the winning build contains
The centerpiece is Exodia the Forbidden One, the monster that is assembled from five separate pieces on the field and instantly wins the duel for whoever manages to gather them all. It is one of the most recognizable creatures in the entire franchise, and it gets the full display treatment here.
Alongside the monster itself, the winning design includes:
- three Yu-Gi-Oh! cards that complete Exodia’s design — specifically the right foot, the left leg and the torso,
- a figure of Yugi Muto, the protagonist of the first generation of the anime.
One important caveat: LEGO has stated that the final product will not look exactly like the submitted build, but will be based on it. That is standard practice for LEGO Ideas winners, and finished sets usually end up close to the original creator’s vision. Whether Yugi ends up as a minifigure or an upscaled brick-built figure is still open.
What Exodia beat
The “Yu-Gi-Oh! It’s Time to Duel!” contest wrapped up just days ago. Exodia won out over a Slifer the Sky Dragon build, two entries depicting a duel between Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and a standalone Blue-Eyes White Dragon display. Entrants were restricted to specific characters and cards from the series, and public voting ran until the end of April 2026. The contest itself leaked earlier this year before LEGO officially announced it, though the rules did not surface at the time. The full announcement is up on the LEGO Ideas blog.
What this means if you collect
There is no release date and no reveal date for the final version yet, so patience is required. What you can count on is that Exodia’s imposing silhouette will be the core of the set, and that Yugi will be included in some form. Yugi’s friends did not make the cut this time, though nothing rules out future original Yu-Gi-Oh! sets built around them.
The move fits a broader pattern. LEGO already runs major gaming crossovers with Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Pokemon, more Pokemon sets have been teased for 2027, and a LEGO Ideas Pokemon TCG contest this year also turned a fan build into an official product. Given how big Yu-Gi-Oh! is as a trading card game, an official set was a matter of time.
