The Brno-based studio Ashborne Games has opened the gates to its medieval life sim. The Guild 1 Remake: Europa 1410 is now available in Early Access on Steam, and until October 1 it carries a 34% discount, which brings the price down to €19.79. If you are not sure whether building a dynasty in the Middle Ages is your kind of game, there is an updated demo you can try first.
Why the launch slipped from July
Early Access was supposed to start back in July, but the team needed more time. Part of that was plain polish, part of it was settling the vision of what this entry in the The Guild series should actually be. The renaming is a direct result of that: the original The Guild – Europa 1410 became The Guild 1 Remake: Europa 1410, so players can tell at a glance that this is a remake of the first game rather than a brand-new sequel.
What you get right now
The Early Access build starts you off with eight professions across six cities. Each city looks different and throws different challenges at you, so the experience of running a workshop or a tavern changes depending on where you settle.

The roadmap: combat first, multiplayer later
New content is set to arrive every month through smaller updates, and on top of that the road to version 1.0 has two bigger milestones. The first one is aimed at players who do not mind getting their hands dirty: improved combat interactions arrive together with three additional professions – thief, guard and robber. That same update also brings more language options, including Czech; for now the game ships with English and German only.
The second major milestone adds multiplayer. Beyond that, the general promise is simply more of everything – deeper customization of your family line and an expanded economy. The community will also get to decide on one of the cities that makes it into the game.
