Final Fantasy 14 is bringing back one of its rarest kinds of rides. Starting September 24, Warriors of Light can once again get their hands on the Regalia Type-G, a four-seat mount tied to the Final Fantasy 15 crossover. The window closes on October 13, so if you want the car, you have roughly three weeks.
Why the Regalia Type-G matters
Final Fantasy 14 has no shortage of mounts – from ridable Chocobos through giant fat cats to a bundle of balloons. What stays genuinely rare are multi-seat mounts. Being able to load several party members onto one ride is practical for group play and great for screenshots, but most of these mounts are locked behind heavy grinding, demanding high-level content, or real money. The Chocobo Carriage from the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store, for example, costs $35.99 USD.
The Regalia is the convertible that belongs to Noctis and carries the Final Fantasy 15 cast across the world. In Final Fantasy 14 it only shows up on select occasions when the game runs the crossover, and the last time was a couple of years ago – which means plenty of newer Sprouts have never had a shot at it.
What you need to unlock it
You don’t spend any real money, but you do have to put in some work:
- at least one job at level 50
- the main scenario quest The Ultimate Weapon completed
- the A Nocturne for Heroes questline, in which Noctis turns up in Eorzea
Once you finish A Nocturne for Heroes, head to the Gold Saucer, where you can buy the Regalia mount, Noctis’ hairstyle and a Noctis Triple Triad card.
MGP prices: start saving now
The rewards aren’t handed out for free – you pay in MGP, and the totals are not small:
- Regalia Type-G – 200,000 MGP
- Noctis’ hairstyle – 20,000 MGP
- Noctis Triple Triad card – 10,000 MGP
Earning MGP isn’t difficult, but it does take time, so it’s worth starting before the event goes live. If you’ve already gone through the crossover in the past, you can run it again – the content is identical to previous runs.
What’s next for Final Fantasy 14
Right now the MMORPG is in the calm before the storm ahead of its next big release. The sixth expansion, Evercold, arrives in January 2027 with two new jobs, new areas and a fresh story. Odds are good that a lot of groups will be rolling into those new zones together in the Regalia Type-G.
