Loftia enters Early Access on November 3 – a cozy MMO built on cooperation, not combat

Most MMOs are still wired around fighting, grinding and beating other players. Loftia takes the opposite route: instead of combat, it leans on cooperation, creativity, sustainability and the idea that you and everyone else are building one shared world together. The result is a life sim MMO that ticks off pretty much every box a cozy game fan could ask for.

A world of floating islands

Loftia is being made by the Australian independent studio Qloud Games and it plays out across a colorful world of floating islands. You can set up a home, grow crops, rescue animals, explore with friends and pitch in on projects that change things for your wider community.

The game has also been heavily shaped by the people playing it. Feedback from Alpha and Beta testing fed into everything from farming and character customization all the way to the social features.

Release date, platforms and price

Qloud Games has confirmed that after four years of development, Loftia enters Early Access on November 3 for PC and Mac, on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

  • Base price: $29.99
  • Launch discount: 17%, so $24.89
  • Platforms: PC and Mac (Steam, Epic Games Store)

The launch follows a Kickstarter campaign that raised $1.3 million from 17,000 backers, and a closed Beta that reached 25,000 players in April. In May, Loftia was also voted Most Anticipated Game at the 2026 Cozy Game Awards.

What replaces combat

Loftia’s take on multiplayer is built around shared progress rather than competition, which pushes the “life” part of life sim to the front. You can live in neighborhoods, team up on large-scale projects and work with community-driven systems focused on sustainability – renewable energy, hydroponics, recycling and ecology.

Instead of classic MMO fighting, the game offers cooperative, time-based missions built around platforming, puzzles, exploration and other challenges. In other words, the payoff for playing together isn’t loot from a boss, it’s what your community manages to build.

What happens after launch

Early Access isn’t the finish line here. Qloud Games plans to keep expanding Loftia with new areas, activities, stories, social features and community-driven content, and says player feedback will stay a key part of development as the world grows – much like it already has during Alpha and Beta.

For you as a player that means two things: you’ll be buying an unfinished game on November 3, but also one where your feedback has a track record of actually landing.
