How Long Does It Take to Beat Silent Hill: Townfall?

How Long Does It Take to Beat Silent Hill: Townfall?

Konami’s new Silent Hill is out, and just like the previous entries in the series, Silent Hill: Townfall hides several endings and expects you to do some serious digging to see them all. The obvious question before you start: how much of your life does the fog-shrouded island of St. Amelia actually eat? We compared the times of five players who all approached the game completely differently, from a pure story run to a hunt for every last collectible.

The short answer

A first playthrough of Silent Hill: Townfall lands roughly between 12 hours 37 minutes and 15 hours 15 minutes. The fastest run used Story Mode, the slowest one belonged to a player who treated Townfall as a stealth game. Everything in between depends mostly on two things: how long the late-game puzzles hold you up, and how many of the 85 possible discoveries you insist on ticking off.

Times by playstyle

  • Story Mode, focused on the plot – 12 hours 37 minutes. On Story Mode enemies go down faster and there are more supplies in cupboards and drawers, so this run ended with a huge 105 kills and the “Abandoned” ending. Story Mode does not help with puzzles, though, and a few late-game ones added a noticeable chunk of time.
  • Trying to find everything – 12 hours 55 minutes. Played on the recommended Normal/Hinted combo, this run reached the “Forever” ending. Total playtime across two playthroughs climbed to almost 34 hours and three different endings, partly because the auxiliary line B puzzle alone swallowed nearly an hour.
  • Reviewing, Normal difficulty – 13 hours 36 minutes. From the moment Simon washes up on the Scottish shoreline to the climactic boss fight, with 78 of 85 discoveries, 9 of 13 phone numbers and 92 kills. Roughly 30 of those minutes were spent stuck on – you guessed it – auxiliary line B.
  • Going for the true ending – 15 hours 8 minutes. A slow, note-taking sweep of every drawer, cabinet and locked room, every weapon in the game used, 92 kills and the “Abandoned” ending, with overall playtime sitting at 44 hours.
  • Stealthy and cautious – 15 hours 15 minutes. Bricks and bottles instead of the pipe, enemies tracked on the CRTV, only 76 kills and just 4 minutes 15 seconds officially logged hiding in lockers (plenty more spent behind cover, in sheds and bathrooms). Result: the “Abandoned” ending.

Why combat barely speeds you up

Townfall is built differently from the recent entries. Where the Silent Hill 2 remake played as traditional survival horror and Silent Hill f leaned hard into combat, Townfall has comparatively few enemies and far fewer ways to remove them. Each foe feels more like a mini stalker than a regular mob, which is exactly why one of our runs turned into a stealth game and ended up the longest of the bunch.

New Game Plus and repeat runs

Your first credits roll is not the end. New Game Plus sprinkles new collectibles around the seaside town, adds new weapons and opens the door to four more endings, including the bizarre secret ones that are a long-running Silent Hill tradition. Both secret endings can be grabbed in a single playthrough if you solve some extra puzzles, comb over every inch of the map and save tactically.

Repeat runs are dramatically faster once the puzzle solutions and locker combinations are in your head. One pacifist-leaning second playthrough clocked in at just 8 hours 24 minutes with only five saves – and a mountain of healing items – landing the “Justice” ending.

FAQ

How long is Silent Hill: Townfall?

A first playthrough takes roughly 12.5 to 15 hours. The fastest of our five runs finished in 12 hours 37 minutes, the slowest in 15 hours 15 minutes.

Does Story Mode make the game shorter?

Partly. On Story Mode enemies drop faster and you find more supplies, so fights take less time, but puzzles are unaffected – and the late-game ones are what eat the most hours.

How many endings does Silent Hill: Townfall have?

Our runs reached “Abandoned”, “Forever” and “Justice”, and one player reported four additional endings waiting in New Game Plus, including secret ones in the classic Silent Hill style.

How long is a second playthrough?

Much shorter. One repeat run that already knew the puzzle solutions and locker combinations finished in 8 hours 24 minutes with just five saves.

How many collectibles are there?

The game tracks 85 possible discoveries and 13 phone numbers. Even a very thorough review run ended with 78 discoveries and 9 phone numbers, so expect to miss a few on your first go.
