The switch from Easy Anticheat to EA Javelin Anticheat on PC isn’t going entirely smoothly, and Respawn has now published an update with a temporary workaround. If matchmaking refuses to put you into a round, the problem may not be on your end.
What’s happening
As the team works to transition all PC players from Easy Anticheat to EA Javelin Anticheat, some players are running into problems getting into a match – including “Party Not Ready” error messages. Respawn says it is actively investigating these issues and hopes to have a resolution soon.
What you can do right now
- If you’re hitting matchmaking errors, switch your launcher to Steam – Respawn recommends it for a smoother game experience while the issue is being worked on.
- Make sure your game is updated before you jump into your next match.
In other words, this isn’t a fix, it’s a workaround. Until the transition is fully settled, Steam is the safer route into a lobby. If you’re not sure which platforms and setups Apex runs on, we’ve covered that in our overview of system requirements.
Reminder: EA Javelin Anticheat is live
EA Javelin Anticheat is now live in Apex Legends on PC. Respawn is aware of errors affecting some players as they transition between systems and says it is actively working to address them.
The point of the change is long-term: Javelin is meant to give the anticheat teams greater visibility into emerging threats and more flexibility to develop and improve detections as cheating evolves. We wrote about the rollout itself in our article on the Javelin anticheat switch, and the official details are in EA’s blog post: https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/apex-legends/news/javelin-anticheat-announcement.
