Battlefield 6 Season 5 Heads to Las Vegas and Finally Brings Back the Server Browser

Battlefield 6 is moving its next season to Las Vegas. Season 5 goes live on October 13 and runs for roughly three months, bringing new maps, modes and events – plus two features the community has been asking about for ages: Platoons and a proper Server Browser. On top of the Vegas Strip, the season also opens up the gates of Area 51.

Season 5 roadmap: three phases, three big drops

EA laid out the whole Season 5 roadmap, and it splits the content into dated phases. Here’s what you should put in your calendar:

  • October 13 – Season 5 launch, Siege of Las Vegas, with fighting spilling into the streets of Vegas and the gates of Area 51 opening.
  • November 10 – Casino Heist adds a new map called European Casino, a new event of the same name, and fresh gear.
  • December 8 – Frozen Aces, the biggest update of the season: Platoons, the Server Browser, Operation High Roller, the return of the updated Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City maps, and the Freezeout event, which appears to give the Vegas Strip a snowy makeover.

Server Browser and Platoons: not at launch

This is the part worth reading carefully. Platoons and the Server Browser are not part of the October 13 launch – they’re currently projected for Phase 3 on December 8. Until then, if you want to browse servers, you still have to go through Portal. Once Phase 3 lands, the feature finally shows up in the base version of the game. EA says it will share more details as the Phase 3 release gets closer.

For you as a player, that means two months of waiting, but also the end of a long-standing complaint: finding a specific server or playing with a stable group of people shouldn’t require a detour through Portal anymore.

EA keeps ticking off the wishlist

The announcement isn’t exactly a shock. After Season 4, EA and DICE published a “What’s Next” post outlining Battlefield Studios’ long-term plans for the game, and so far those plans have held up. Since Season 4, features like Proximity Chat, Custom Lobbies and Spectator Mode have gradually been added. Keep in mind they’re still limited in availability – EA is testing them before rolling them out across the whole base game.

It’s been a bumpy road to get here. Battlefield 6 launched in October 2025 to huge numbers, then hit a rough patch as community frustration grew through the rest of 2025 and into Season 1. Each seasonal update added more content and features, and the player base has steadily warmed back up. Season 4 in particular brought naval combat back in a big way and shipped the largest map in the game so far, Tsuru Reef.

A Dead Space crossover is coming too

Season 5 also teases a Dead Space crossover, which looks set to land right around Halloween. According to EA, it adds the Convergence Event to Battlefield 6 after the discovery of a Marker beneath Area 51. What that actually means for gameplay and rewards is still under wraps – EA is planning a full reveal closer to the crossover’s launch.
