Escape from Tarkov costs from €49.99 on Steam and from €52 on the official Battlestate Games (BSG) website. It’s PC only, and the two stores sell different sets of editions at different prices. Here’s what each edition includes, what it costs on Steam versus the BSG website, how The Unheard Steam Edition differs, how switching between stores works, and what the PvE Zone and Arena cost. Prices are in euros without discounts, as of 20 October 2026.
Editions and prices: Steam vs the BSG website
The edition contents below are as described on the BSG website. On Steam, the editions are built from the Standard Edition plus expansion packs with the same contents. Steam prices are from the Czech Steam store, website prices are for the Europe region.

|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Alpha container 2×2, stash 10×30 | €49.99 | €52 |

The BSG website notes that payment method fees aren’t included in the listed price. You’ll see the final amount just before paying, and website payments are handled by the distributor Xsolla. The website doesn’t show the PvE Zone price without logging in, so we don’t list it here.
The Unheard Steam Edition: no Season Pass
Steam’s most expensive edition has been on sale since 20 May 2026. Its contents are close to the website’s The Unheard Edition: a 10×72 stash, the Gamma container, a copy of EFT: Arena Ryzhy Edition, +20% XP for the whole group and the PvE Zone. What it lacks is the Season Pass, which gives access to future DLC. BSG says this is due to Steam platform rules and that it’s reflected in the price.
Steam or the BSG website?
Either way you play the same game on the same servers. The differences are in buying and in your account:
- Even on Steam you need a Battlestate Games account linked to Steam. Your progress is saved to the BSG profile.
- If you already own the game from the website and want to play through Steam, you have to buy it again on Steam, in any edition. If the editions differ, the higher of the two is used.
- Website keys can’t be activated on Steam, and playing through Steam needs a fresh install.
- Steam Family Sharing isn’t supported. The game does have Steam achievements, except for those from limited-time events.
Regions when buying on the website
On the BSG website, purchases are tied to a region: Europe, CIS, Other, LATAM and CN. A copy bought in the Europe region can be launched anywhere in the world. If you launch the game outside your purchase region, the launcher shows error 208. The region doesn’t restrict servers, you play on any server based on ping. BSG explicitly advises against using a VPN when buying.
PvE Zone, expansions and TarCoin
The PvE Zone is a co-op mode where other PMCs are AI-controlled. On Steam you can buy it separately for €29.99, on the website it’s an expansion in the Expansions section. Either way you need the base game. It’s already included in both The Unheard editions. What the PvE Zone offers and why it can’t be played offline either is covered in our PvE Zone guide.
Expansions such as PvE, clothing or a bigger stash are sold on the website and, since 8 July 2026, directly in the game through the Expansions Hub. There you pay with TarCoin. You can find it in raids, where it’s credited to your account after a successful extraction, or buy it in the Expansions Hub, on the website or on Steam. Purchased expansions stay with you even after a wipe.
Arena is sold separately
Escape from Tarkov: Arena is a standalone PvP game from BSG and is sold on the official Arena website, not on Steam. The standard version costs €37, the bundle with the Laboratory Tactical Map €52 and the Arena Complete Bundle €67 (Europe region, excluding payment fees). Arena Ryzhy Edition is part of both The Unheard editions. Details are in our EFT: Arena guide.
Edge of Darkness, Game Pass and sales
Edge of Darkness was a limited edition and is no longer sold.
Tarkov isn’t on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. The game is PC only and BSG sells it only on its own website and on Steam, with no other store listed. The game also won’t go free-to-play, and BSG discontinued trial keys with the 1.0 release.
BSG announces sales on its official channels. For example, the holiday sale from 22 December 2025 to 11 January 2026 offered up to 30% off. As of 20 October 2026 there’s no discount on Steam.
Before buying, make sure your PC meets the system requirements, and once you own the game, continue with our beginner’s guide.
