Clubs, formerly known as Pro Clubs, are part of the new The Grounds mode in FC 27. This guide explains how to get into Clubs and Rush, how Leagues, Playoffs and Tournaments work, what Archetypes, Masteries and Amps do and what EA is still working on. The Grounds and Clubs run only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Information as of 20 October 2026.
What The Grounds is and where you can play it
The Grounds is a social football world for up to 100 players. At its centre is the Terrace, surrounded by three districts, each with its own football culture:

- Montclair – French street football played in cages.
- Zeiza – Argentine potrero, home of Stadium Rush.
- Parkside – British grassroots football, home of the 11v11 Stadium Drop-In.
The mode is current-gen only: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. On PS4, Xbox One and the original Switch there is no The Grounds and no Clubs. If you are still choosing a platform or edition, our guide to FC 27 editions and EA Play sums up the differences.
First launch and mentors
The game sends you into The Grounds right after the first launch. You start with an 11v11 warm-up as Kylian Mbappé in a Champions League match between Real Madrid and Manchester City. Mentor Alex Hunter then takes over and you play your first 2v2 match alongside Mbappé. From then on, you enter The Grounds from the main menu.
Four mentors guide you through the world:
| Mentor | Role |
|---|---|
| Alex Hunter | Progression and improvement |
| Kylian Mbappé | Small-sided matches 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 |
| Chloe Kelly | Kickabouts, Parkside district |
| Paulo Dybala | Clubs and stadium activities, at the Clubhouse |
How to get into Clubs
You enter Clubs through the Clubhouse, marked on the map with a house icon. It unlocks after the tutorial and your meeting with Paulo Dybala. You can then create your own club, join an existing one or accept an invite from a friend. You always control one player, with up to 10 teammates on the pitch.
Leagues, Playoffs and Tournaments
Leagues are the core: wins and draws earn points that decide promotion and relegation. Playoffs follow the league. New in FC 27 are Club Tournaments, 11v11 competitions with different rounds, rules and rewards. Some tournaments use House Rules:
- King of the Hill
- Survival
- Long Range
- No Rules
- Mystery Ball
- Headers and Volleys
Rush in FC 27
Rush is a fast small-sided variant of football. It differs from a regular match in how offsides, corners, penalties and blue cards work. If you are new to it, play the Rush tutorial in Learn to Play first.
In The Grounds, the Rush stadium is in the Zeiza district. It offers three ways to play:
- Drop-in Rush – jump straight into a match.
- Ranked Rush – ranked matches.
- Rush Tournaments – tournaments.
If you want the full-size game, Parkside has the 11v11 Stadium Drop-In, where matchmaking pairs you with players of a similar level. Rush is not limited to The Grounds, either. You will also find it in Kick Off and as an Ultimate Team mode, where you pick one player item and play co-op. How FUT works is explained in our Ultimate Team guide for beginners.
Small-sided matches and Kickabouts
Small-sided matches last three minutes and come as 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or Rush variants. Assists are fixed here: Manual shooting and Fully Assisted passing. The camera sits behind your player, similar to the “Pro” camera.

Kickabouts mix football with other sports and party games, such as Bocce Ball, Team Keepaway, The Big Race, Bucket Ball, Balloon Ball, Boomerang Ball and Goal Control.
Archetypes, Masteries and Amps
Your player in The Grounds plays to an Archetype. All Archetypes are unlocked from the start, resetting a build costs neither Coins nor a consumable, and you can tune individual attributes. You can switch Archetypes anywhere in The Grounds, including the Clubhouse and the Clubs or Rush lobbies. You can play in attack, midfield, defence or in goal.
Masteries are Archetype levels. Reach set milestones and you unlock permanent attribute boosts that apply to all your builds. For example, a level 10 Finisher gives +1 Finishing and +1 Composure to every Archetype you use. There are 13 Archetypes and each boosts two attributes:
| Archetype | Mastery attributes |
|---|---|
| Shot Stopper | GK Positioning, GK Reflexes |
| Sweeper Keeper | GK Handling, GK Diving |
| Progressor | Long Passing, Standing Tackle |
| Boss | Aggression, Strength |
| Marauder | Sliding Tackle, Sprint Speed |
| Disruptor | Stamina, Interceptions |
| Recycler | Def. Awareness, Short Passing |
| Maestro | Reactions, Ball Control |
| Creator | Free Kick Accuracy, Vision |
| Spark | Crossing, Dribbling |
| Magician | Curve, Acceleration |
| Finisher | Composure, Finishing |
| Target | Balance, Jumping |
Amps are temporary Archetype boosts that last a limited number of matches. You can equip up to three at once: two Standard and one Signature. They come in four tiers:
- Tiers 1 and 2: attribute boosts.
- Tier 3: attribute boosts, PlayStyles and Perks.
- Tier 4: attribute boosts, PlayStyles+ and Perks.
Amps apply in stadium matches and in Rush. At launch, Amps did not grant PlayStyle+.
How you progress
Playing earns you AXP and Grounds Coins. Club Objectives add more rewards: Milestones, Weeklies and Seasonals, plus Elite objectives for the Elite Division. On top of that runs a Season Pass and a paid Premium Pass. Amps and consumables are also sold in The Grounds store.
What EA is tuning in The Grounds
EA keeps adjusting Archetypes and announced its latest changes on 19 October 2026. As of 13 October, EA was working on long wait times for Kickabouts, caused by player availability, and on incorrect prices for some attributes. Updates have already fixed high ping in league matches (1.0.1) and improved matchmaking (1.0.3). Every fix is listed in our latest update guide.
The first season of The Grounds is called European Nights and revolves around the Champions League, with Amps inspired by Zidane, Maldini and Bale. Screaming Grounds arrives ahead of Halloween.
