Minecraft LIVE September 2026 confirmed that the new dimension The Sift is coming to Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027 – the first new dimension in more than 14 years, joining the Overworld, the Nether and the End. The next game drop is Ice Caves, adding a rare underground extension of cold biomes with glowing ice crystals and a new hostile mob, the frozen zombie, which can freeze players and throw ice balls. Ice balls work as a weapon, as a potion ingredient or as a light source once crystals are placed, and regular zombies can turn into frozen zombies after exposure to powder snow. Later this year Mojang is adding Sound Effects Packs to the Minecraft Marketplace for customising in-game audio. Minecraft World announced the first official hotel, Minecraft World Hotel, and the Escape the Nether rollercoaster at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, scheduled to open next year. Mojang also shared a deeper look at Minecraft Dungeons 2, launching on Tuesday 29 September, which features The Sift dimension full of souls and a more open world with parkour and jump attacks. Jens Bergenström, Chief Creative Officer at Mojang Studios, ruled out an End update but announced a new creator platform designed to make building Minecraft experiences easier, similar to Roblox.
