The horror farming sim Grave Seasons finally has a firm release date – and it’s further away than many of you hoped. Developer Perfect Garbage confirmed in a Steam community post that the game launches on March 9, 2027, simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
A long road to a date
Grave Seasons was first announced back in 2023 and fully revealed last May, when its pixel art style and farming/social sim loop – clearly in the spirit of Stardew Valley – caught people’s attention almost instantly. A month after that reveal the studio set a 2026 release window, and this past March it locked in a specific date: August 14, 2026. In June that slipped to Fall, and now the game has moved again.
The new date is roughly seven months later than the original August 2026 plan and about five months past the Fall window that followed it. If you want to keep track of how the schedule keeps shifting, we collect everything in one place in our Grave Seasons coverage.
Why the delay? Consoles
Perfect Garbage was blunt about the reason: porting a game to consoles is tough. The studio says it has already tackled several important changes that help the console versions, including a radial menu built for controllers, but the team still needs more time to get those builds properly polished. Perfect Garbage has also brought in an unnamed partner studio to help with the porting work.
What this means for you
The good news is that this doesn’t look like a content problem. The developer states that Grave Seasons is now content complete and that the PC build is locked. In practice, the next five or so months should go entirely into the console ports, optimization, polish and bug fixing – so the PC version you’ll get in March is essentially the game as it stands today, just more stable across platforms.
- Release date: March 9, 2027
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
- Status: content complete, PC build locked
You can wishlist the game on Steam, and it’s also listed on the PlayStation Store and Xbox store.
What Grave Seasons actually is
The core premise takes the cozy farming formula and adds a murderer. You play as an escaped convict who arrives in the small town of Ashenridge and lands right in the middle of a string of supernatural killings. Over the course of a single in-game year you sow seeds, harvest crops, craft items and investigate the townsfolk to figure out who the killer is.
Every death, every decision and every moment of hesitation pushes the story somewhere new, and each playthrough serves up a different narrative with an entirely new killer. If you want more context on the game’s premise and its journey so far, we’ve written about Grave Seasons before.
