You can download Fortnite almost anywhere: on PC, on both generations of PlayStation and Xbox, on Switch and Switch 2, and on mobile. On iPhone it has been back in the App Store since 2025, and in the EU you can also get it from the Epic Games Store. This article walks you through each platform and what changed on mobile.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version came out on 5 June 2025, and it’s a separate release, not just the old game running on new hardware.
PC: Epic Games Launcher only
You won’t find Fortnite for PC on Steam or anywhere else. It’s downloaded exclusively through the Epic Games Launcher, which you install from the Epic Games website. Creating an account is free, and it’s the same account you’ll use on console and mobile, so your progress and purchases carry over.
Mobile: App Store or Epic Games Store
This is the part that has changed the most in recent years. Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store in 2020 after a dispute with Epic Games. In the EU the game came back in 2024 through the Epic Games Store thanks to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), and in 2025, after a court case in the US, it returned to the App Store as well.
Status as of 19 October 2026 according to the official Fortnite page: on iPhone and iPad you download Fortnite from the App Store. If you’re in the EU, Brazil or Japan, you have a second route through the Epic Games Store, which you first install as a separate app. Epic also states that the game is not available in Australia, nor on iPads in Brazil and Japan.
On Android you download Fortnite from Google Play or from the Epic Games Store for mobile. With the Epic Games Store, the system warns you during installation that you’re installing an app from outside the official store, which is expected on this particular route.
If you have nothing to play on
You can stream Fortnite from the cloud. It works on GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Amazon Luna. It’s a usable option if you have a weaker PC or want to play on a device the game doesn’t run on natively. Keep in mind that the trip to the server adds to your usual latency, and in a shooter you’ll feel it.
How much space you need
Fortnite changes every season and so does the install size, so any specific number goes out of date before you finish reading it. Rule of thumb: expect tens of gigabytes and leave some headroom, because the updates before a new season tend to be big.
The game is free on every platform, and thanks to crossplay you can play with people across devices.
