Hytale co-creator Simon Collins-Laflamme has put up a prize that is hard to ignore: $15,000 for the first streamer who takes down the upcoming Gobliterator boss under a brutally strict set of rules. The boss arrives with Chapter 1, which launches on October 12 and brings the game’s first handcrafted dungeon, its first multiphase boss fight, and a big expansion of Hytale’s RPG systems.
The rules of the challenge
Collins-Laflamme announced the bounty on Twitter, and the conditions leave very little wiggle room. The qualifying run has to be:
- solo – no second player to split the boss’s attention or add damage,
- on Hard Mode and in Hardcore Mode at the same time,
- without armor and without potions,
- without glitches and without Creative Mode shortcuts,
- a legitimate run from the very beginning, not a prepared save.
Iron weapons obtainable through Exploration Mode are allowed. The whole attempt also has to be streamed and a VOD kept afterwards so the result can be verified. Collins-Laflamme said he will publish the full rules before Chapter 1 goes live, and he closed his announcement with a short warning to anyone planning to game the system: “don’t cheat, bro.”
Why this is harder than it sounds
The Gobliterator is Hytale’s first multiphase boss encounter, so the fight alone is a step up from anything the game has asked of players so far. Strip away armor and potions and there is almost no room to absorb a mistake, and Hardcore Mode means a single death ends the run. On top of that, Hypixel Studios is deliberately keeping the dungeon and the boss out of public pre-release testing, so nobody will get to practice the encounter before launch day. Everyone starts blind on October 12.
What Chapter 1 adds
Chapter 1 is one of the biggest additions since Hytale’s Early Access launch, and it leans hard into goblins. Expect new enemy types, elite encounters, friendly characters, Goblin Breach world events, and a set of unusual gadgets – rocket boots, a mechanical hookshot, a glider, and a mining drill. It is a clear move beyond earlier foundational patches like Update 4, which concentrated on new building blocks, social features, and underlying systems. We track every new patch and announcement in our Hytale news section, so it is worth keeping an eye on before launch day.
A push for more players
Collins-Laflamme has also been replying to users who said they do not own Hytale, asking them to check their direct messages. He did not say publicly what those messages contained, but the pattern suggests some interested streamers may have been handed game keys. The timing matters: Hytale entered Early Access less than a year ago with Hypixel Studios openly telling players the game would launch unfinished and evolve alongside its community. A $15,000 bounty is a fast way to pull in an audience that might otherwise have waited.
The reaction from the community has been predictably loud. Some players joked that the prize alone is reason enough to become a streamer for a week, while others immediately started arguing about whether a reward that size invites cheating and how Hypixel Studios would actually verify a legitimate run. Plenty also expect a race on streaming platforms the moment Chapter 1 goes live. Whether the Gobliterator survives hours, days, or much longer is anyone’s guess – the first legal attempts can start on October 12.
