That silence hasn’t stopped the community from doing its own detective work – and the name that keeps coming back is Manni L. Perez, the actor a large part of the fanbase believes is the performer behind Lucia.

A theory that’s two years old and still unconfirmed

The Perez-is-Lucia idea has been circulating for roughly two years, and in that time the actor has never confirmed it – but she’s never denied it either. That’s the detail fans keep chewing on. A denial would kill the rumor instantly, but it would also mean walking away from a huge wave of online attention that any performer could use. The timing may be a coincidence, though with GTA 6’s release date no longer that far off, plenty of fans refuse to read it that way. Her posts have since pulled in enormous numbers, and after reportedly racking up 18 million views over a 30-day stretch, she offered a short reaction:

“I don’t know what that means.”

It’s a deliberately dry, tongue-in-cheek line, and naturally it became its own talking point. It also confirms nothing – a surge in views and a wry comment about it are not the same as an announcement, whether she was genuinely surprised by the numbers or not.

Why Stephen Root changed the conversation

The renewed interest in the cast partly comes down to actor Stephen Root, who confirmed he plays Brian Heder in GTA 6. It’s widely believed he wasn’t supposed to talk about it, which is exactly why his slip made fans start re-examining every rumored name on the list. But Root speaking openly doesn’t mean Perez can – or will – do the same about Lucia while Rockstar’s secrecy policy is still in force.
