The frontier has gone dark again. Red Dead Online is running its Halloween rotation from October 6 through November 2, and it stacks multiplied payouts, free cosmetic rewards and a long list of store discounts into one four-week window. If you have not saddled up in a while, this is one of the easier moments of the year to come back, because most of the bonuses land on activities you already know.
Multiplied payouts during the event
The biggest reason to log in is the bonus multipliers on several playlists and mission types. They run alongside each other, so you can pick whatever fits your playstyle:
- 4X RDO$, Gold and XP on Strange Tales of the West Telegram Missions
- 3X RDO$, Gold and XP on All Hallows’ Call to Arms
- 3X RDO$, Role XP and XP on Naturalist Sample Sales
- 3X RDO$ and XP on Featured Series
Halloween Pass 2 also returns, which gives you another shot at collecting rewards that were previously available through it.
Free Halloween rewards
A chunk of the event content is handed out just for showing up and playing, and several items are recycled from older passes – handy if you missed them the first time around:
- Log into Red Dead Online to receive the red Fernwater Coat
- Naturalists who log in get the Irontooth Mask, originally from Outlaw Pass 4
- Hunt or sample a Legendary Animal for the Best Shot Emote, also from Outlaw Pass 4
- Reach Wave 5 in All Hallows’ Call to Arms for the Rowberrow Outfit and Air Banjo Emote, originally from Quick Draw Club 2
- Reach Wave 10 in All Hallows’ Call to Arms for the Beat Chest Emote (originally from Outlaw Pass 3) plus one Gold Bar
Weekly objectives
On top of that, each week has its own task with its own payout, so it pays to check in more than once:
- October 6–12: complete a Sample Sale to receive a Reward for a Free Coat
- October 13–19: win in the Featured Series to receive the North Clingman Treasure Map
- October 20–26: complete any Blood Money Contract to receive a Reward for a Free Weapon
- October 27–November 2: play All Hallows’ Call to Arms to receive the orange Benbow Jacket
Featured Series calendar
The Featured Series rotates through Halloween playlists first and then shifts into the Hardcore variants:
- October 6–12: Halloween Series 1
- October 13–19: Halloween Series 2
- October 20–26: Hardcore Halloween Series 1
- October 27–November 2: Hardcore Halloween Series 2
Discounts and freebies
If you have been saving up RDO$ or Gold, this is a decent window to spend it. The discount list is unusually broad, and a few services are outright free:
- 10 Gold Bars off the Naturalist Sample Kit
- Free Fast Travel
- Free Sedative Ammo
- Free Tomahawks from the Fence
- 40% off all Novice, Promising and Established Naturalist Role Items
- 40% off Cripps’ Outfits
- 40% off Camp Dogs
- 50% off all Halloween Masks at Madame Nazar’s Shop
- 40% off Gypsy Cob and Missouri Fox Trotter Horses
- 50% off Melee Weapons
- 50% off Haircuts, Dentistry and Makeup
- 50% off Eyepatches
- 40% off Coats and Bandoliers
What it means for you
Practically speaking, the event rewards a focused plan rather than aimless riding. If you want money and Gold, Strange Tales of the West Telegram Missions pay the most at 4X. If you want the cosmetics, All Hallows’ Call to Arms is the one activity that unlocks the most items at once, since Waves 5 and 10 cover an outfit, two emotes and a Gold Bar. Naturalists get the most out of the discounts, with the Sample Kit cheaper and Role Items cut by 40%.
Everything disappears on November 2, so there is no reason to leave the weekly objectives for the last few days. You can check the game’s platforms and details on the official Red Dead Redemption 2 page.
