A Roblox error code tells you straight away where the problem is: your connection, an outdated version, a game’s settings, or a ban from one particular game’s creator. This guide covers the codes Roblox has its own support articles for, what they mean and how to fix them on PC, mobile and console. At the end you will see how to tell a problem on your side from a Roblox outage. Information as of 19 October 2026.
Roblox error codes at a glance
Roblox support has articles for codes 264, 266, 267, 268, 270, 277, 279, 280, 403, 524 and 600, for the “Failed to Load Library” error, and for code 292 on iOS and 901 on Xbox. The table covers the codes where support explains the cause.
| Code | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 264 | the same account started the same game on more than one device | close the game on the other devices |
| 266 | connection to the servers timed out, slow connection | check your internet, try another connection |
| 267 | the game’s creator banned you from that game | contact the game’s creator, other games still work |
| 268 | kicked due to unexpected client behaviour, usually a network issue | check your network, antivirus and other apps |
| 270 | lost connection to Team Create in Roblox Studio | affects creators in Studio, not players |
| 277 | lost connection to the game server | see the general network steps below |
| 279 | could not connect to the game, often because of a firewall | check your firewall and connection |
| 280 | outdated version of Roblox | update Roblox |
| 403 | on PC, the client launched from the website did not initialise | reinstall Roblox using the steps below |
| 524 | no permission to join the game or private server | check you are on the server’s member list |
| 600 | the game’s creator banned you (same as 267) | contact the game’s creator |
| 292 (iOS) | low memory warning (RAM, not storage) | close apps running in the background |
| 901 (Xbox) | among other things, an inappropriate username at sign-up | pick a name that follows the rules below |
If your code is not listed, Roblox recommends contacting support. The full list of articles is on the Roblox Error Codes page.
Network errors 266, 268, 277 and 279
These codes all mean your device cannot reach the game server or loses the connection. Roblox recommends at least 4 to 8 Mbps for one player in a household, and more when several people play at once. With code 279 a firewall is a common cause, and with code 268 an antivirus or another app can interfere.
On a computer:
- Try a different connection, such as another Wi-Fi network or a cable.
- Check that your firewall or antivirus is not blocking Roblox.
- Clear the app data and reinstall Roblox.
On phones and tablets:
- Force close the Roblox app and open it again.
- Restart the device.
- Make sure the date and time on your device are correct.
- If nothing helps, uninstall the app and install it again.
Roblox does not support virtual machines or cloud PCs. If you play that way, only a regular device will fix connection errors. Supported devices are listed in our platforms and requirements guide.
Banned by a creator: codes 267 and 600
Codes 267 and 600 mean the creator of a specific game has banned you from it. This is not a Roblox ban. Your account is fine and you can keep playing other games. Roblox support cannot lift this kind of ban, so the only route is to contact the creator of that game.
Error 403 on PC
Code 403 comes with the message “Access to www.roblox.com has been denied”. It means Roblox launched from the website did not initialise properly. Support recommends these steps:

- Uninstall Roblox.
- Delete the
%LocalAppData%Robloxfolder. In Command Prompt (CMD), typecd AppDataLocaland thenrmdir /s Roblox. - Restart your computer.
- Reinstall Roblox.
- In your browser, clear cookies, update the browser and turn off extensions and VPN.
Codes 264, 280 and 524
264 appears when the same game is running under the same account on two devices, for example a PC and a phone. Close it on one of them.
280 means your version of Roblox is out of date. Update the app from the store or reinstall Roblox on your computer.
524 means you do not have permission to join the game or private server. The server may have restricted access, you may not be on its member list, or the server may be unavailable. Players under 13 can only join their friends’ private servers.
Code 270 in Roblox Studio
Code 270 only affects creators: it means you lost the connection to Team Create, the mode for working on a game together in Studio. How to install Studio and what applies to collaboration is covered in our Roblox Studio guide.
Code 292 on iPhone and 901 on Xbox
292 is a low memory warning on iPhone and iPad. It is about RAM, not storage space. Close the apps running in the background and start the game again.
901 on Xbox appears, among other cases, when you enter an inappropriate username at sign-up. A username must be 3 to 20 characters long, use only letters A–Z and numbers 0–9, and contain at most one underscore, which cannot be at the start or the end. How to change your name later is explained in our Roblox account guide.
How to tell if Roblox is down
If an error hits everyone and every game, it may be an outage. Check the status.roblox.com page and Roblox’s social media accounts. During an outage purchases can also be delayed: Robux usually arrive within an hour, and at the latest within 24 hours.
Join our Discord, Discord GamersTogether, and ask other players whether they are seeing the same error.
FAQ
The creator of a specific game has banned you from it. It is not a Roblox ban and you can keep playing other games. Only that game’s creator can lift it, Roblox support cannot.
It is a connection error, often caused by a firewall. Check your firewall and antivirus, try another connection and reinstall Roblox if needed.
Roblox launched from the website did not initialise on your PC. Uninstalling, deleting the %LocalAppData%Roblox folder, restarting and reinstalling usually sorts it.
Look at status.roblox.com or Roblox’s social media. If they report a problem, the error is not on your side.
For codes without their own article, Roblox recommends contacting support through the Help Center.
