Yet Another Zombie Survivors is a bullet heaven where you don’t run one hero, but a squad of up to three Survivors. Weapons fire on their own, so your hands are busy with movement, dodging and the upgrades you pick. After three years in Early Access, version 1.0 launched on 20 August 2026 and brought a ninth Survivor, a new arena, a boss mode and a camp with story missions. You can buy it through the official partner link, where code MAGIC10 gets you 10% off.
In short:
- Version 1.0 released on 20 August 2026 on Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series.

- Steam reception is very positive: as of 21 September 2026, 91% of 15,469 user reviews are positive.
- The game runs in English plus nine other languages, with full voice support.

What kind of game Yet Another Zombie Survivors is
It is a bullet heaven, or a reverse bullet hell – you stand against thousands of zombies, your weapons fire automatically and the only thing you control directly is movement and positioning. What sets it apart from Vampire Survivors and its relatives is the squad: you start a run with one Survivor and answer SOS calls to recruit a second and a third. Staying solo, running as a duo or building a full trio is your call.
Every Survivor brings different weapons, abilities and stats, and certain pairings unlock extra synergies. No team is mandatory and the game doesn’t push one correct line-up – most of the fun comes from upgrades feeding into each other, cooldowns shrinking and projectiles multiplying until a sensible build turns the screen into noise. If you prefer to aim yourself, auto-aim can be switched off at any time so you can focus fire on a priority target.
What version 1.0 added
The studio described the 1.0 update as roughly four major content updates at once. Specifically, it added:
- Ranger – the ninth Survivor, a former park ranger with a crossbow and animal companions. On top of her own output she raises the whole squad’s critical and luck stats and can heal allies.
- Bio Lab – an arena in the facility where it all started. It is circular, its borders are filled with toxic fumes and a decontamination cycle keeps sweeping through, so parking in one spot is not an option.
- Boss Rush – a mode that starts like a normal run, except the final boss of the arena spawns at the ten-minute mark. The point is to get strong before it arrives and kill it fast for the leaderboards.
- The Camp – a hub between runs with four sub-locations where you complete missions, tune in to radio transmissions and eavesdrop on the other Survivors. If none of that interests you, the main menu has a Quick Run option and a toggle that restores the old menus.
- Story and character missions – a main storyline of 15 consecutive missions, five personal missions for each of the nine Survivors and repeatable quests after that. Missions build Friendship, which grants a growing bonus to Cash and Specialization points.
Modes and arenas
Besides standard runs you can pick wave-based Extermination, Endurance with escalating pressure, Infinite for ridiculous builds, One Hit where a single hit ends you, and the new Boss Rush. Difficulty levels and optional challenges are there when you want the Horde meaner.
Arenas differ in more than scenery. Trains thunder through Dead Terminal, Bio Lab squeezes you with toxic zones, and the bosses in both demand more than holding a direction and hoping.
How the game is doing a month after launch
Steam reception is very positive: as of 21 September 2026 the game has 15,469 user reviews with 91% of them positive. That ratio is something YAZS has held long term, not just in the first days after release.
Since launch the studio has shipped three hotfixes, 1.0.0a through 1.0.0c, the larger 1.0.1 update on 9 September and hotfix 1.0.1a on 18 September. One useful addition is a pity system that gradually raises the chance of rolling the item your current mission needs, so a bad streak no longer blocks progress. A public beta branch has been open since 4 September for anyone who wants changes early and accepts an unstable build.
The Nintendo Switch version is still open. It was meant to follow shortly after the other platforms; in the September update the studio apologised for the delay and clarified it will be a Switch 1 title. A dedicated Switch 2 version isn’t promised, as the studio hasn’t been accepted into Nintendo’s Switch 2 developer program yet.

On paper it is a light game, but late in a run there are several hundred enemies and effects on screen at once, so a weaker rig tends to hit a framerate wall long before it hits the numbers in that table.
