The reaction to the Grand Theft Auto 6 Collector’s Edition was blunt, and now it has a practical outcome: players have started 3D printing their own version of the Macca the Gator figure from the bundle instead of paying for the official one. With launch now less than two months away, the most anticipated release of 2026 is generating as much noise around its merch as around the game itself.
A $399.99 box without the game
Rockstar Games has officially announced the set as Grand Theft Auto 6: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, and the sticking point is simple. The collection costs $399.99 and does not include a copy of the game at all. Evidence of the bundle surfaced before the reveal, and we covered that in our piece on the GTA 6 merch leak.

Between the asking price and the missing game, the announcement did not land well with a large chunk of the player base.
The fan-made Macca the Gator
That frustration turned into a DIY project. Fans have recreated the Macca the Gator collectible using 3D printing, so you can get a replica of the figure without the $399.99 box. It is not a 1:1 match, though. The homemade version skips the “twist-open stash compartment” found on Rockstar’s figure, and since it is printed in resin, you have to hand paint it yourself afterward. It is an unofficial route, but a far cheaper one.
What you actually pay for the game
If you just want to play, the pricing is unchanged. The standard retail version of Grand Theft Auto 6 costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition sits at $99.99 and adds extra in-game content plus exclusive access to certain shops and features. Pre-orders are live on the official Rockstar page and on both console storefronts.

Whatever the merch discussion, demand is not the problem. Pre-orders remain very strong, and while there has been plenty of talk that the PS5 version appears to be outselling the Xbox one, Microsoft is not unhappy with what it sees. Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball said GTA 6 is “breaking records” for the Xbox platform and expects that to continue through the fall. PC yes, Nintendo Switch 2 probably not
Players still expect a PC release at some point in the future, and Take-Two’s stance on that we covered separately in our piece on GTA 6 on PC. The platform that likely will not get the game anytime soon is the Nintendo Switch 2. Former Rockstar Games developer Jérémy Hartvick said moving GTA 6 to the Switch 2 would require adjustments to make it run at all, starting with the hardware power and capabilities of the device. That means more porting work and, in his words, a potential “subpar experience” because of the changes needed. He did not rule the idea out entirely, however, pointing to streaming as a possible workaround.
