Saturday at Tipsport Open Cup #2 belonged entirely to the Lower Bracket. Three elimination rounds ran back to back and by the end of the day five teams had packed their bags. Only three squads made it into the final day, and one Czech player is still alive in the fight for the trophy.
Five teams gone in a single day
Optibet and INFURITY Gaming, both of whom came through the group stage, ended their runs without a single play-off win. Four Magic did not last much longer either – they beat Optibet in the opening Saturday series, then ran straight into BRUTE and lost 0:2. At the same time HAVU Gaming were eliminated as well, finishing their Prague trip far below expectations.
The team that used the drop into the Lower Bracket best were the youngsters from Inner Circle Academy. After losing to aimclub on Friday they stacked win after win, including a 2:1 over HAVU Gaming, and kept climbing toward the final day.
BRUTE finish fourth on home soil
The evening series was the big one for Czech fans. BRUTE dropped to the Lower Bracket on Friday, but after beating Four Magic they were a single win away from the final day. Inner Circle Academy denied them: two 13:10 maps, a 2:0 on the scoreboard and fourth place for the only Czech club in the tournament. No medal in front of a home crowd. forsyy and Metizport keep the favorite tag
One Czech player is still in the race for the title. David “forsyy” Bílý arrived with Metizport as the main favorites and the team has delivered so far. All three of their series went to a decider, but they controlled every closing stretch. In the Upper Bracket final they stopped a red-hot aimclub and ended their five-win streak, sealing a spot in the grand final. We followed forsyy and Metizport earlier this season too.
aimclub now get a shot at revenge – they face Inner Circle Academy for the second slot in the final.
