SINNERS are back in the online grind they have never been particularly fond of, and the return opened with a tough draw: Russian side Nemesis in the first round of the qualifier for 1win Private Club #2. The Czech squad got through it and took the first of three steps toward another trip to Belgrade. The second one, however, is where the run ended.
Nemesis fell on the decider
The series went the full distance. SINNERS took their own map pick Dust II 13:8, but Nemesis answered on Cache in the most brutal way possible and closed it out 13:2. The very same scoreline then landed on the other side of the table: on the deciding Ancient, SINNERS blew the Russian five away 13:2 and moved on.
That is a result with real weight behind it, because Nemesis currently sit as the 33rd best team in the world. For the wider context of the Czech squad’s autumn, we also covered their trip to Sweden, where four wins at the ROG Journey Autumn LAN pushed them up to the edge of the fourth and fifth world ten. It was also in Sweden that Ninjas in Pyjamas eliminated them directly.
CCT ended against Black Phoenix
Right after the win over Nemesis, SINNERS dove into the tenth CCT tournament, and this time they carried the favorite tag. Their opponents were Black Phoenix, countrymen of the Nemesis roster, and the label did not hold up. Both teams won their own map picks, the series levelled out, and on the deciding Nuke SINNERS never grabbed the wheel the way they had a day earlier. They lost 10:13 and exited CCT early.
GamerLegion closed the door to Serbia
The second round of the 1win Private Club #2 qualifier pitted SINNERS against GamerLegion, a regular Major participant and currently a top-30 team in the world. The Czech squad lost 5:13 and 11:13. The recurring problem was the economy: after winning pistol rounds, the force buys that followed did not pay off, and SINNERS kept handing the initiative back instead of building on their early leads.
So there will be no repeat trip to Belgrade this time. SINNERS did qualify for the first 1win Private Club, but once they got to Serbia they ran into Ninjas in Pyjamas and GamerLegion and could not get past either of them. GamerLegion have now stopped them for the second time in a row.
What is next: DraculaNu and Portugal
The calendar does not leave much room to dwell on it. SINNERS are heading to the DraculaNu LAN event, running from October 19 to 23, where the field includes FaZe Clan, ENVY, Luminosity and HEROIC. A week later they travel to Portugal for the HyperX Retake tournament.
Both events matter beyond the prize money, because every single VRS point counts for the Czech squad right now. We broke down exactly why in our piece on Tipsport RUSH:Brno invites, and all the latest results and roster moves are collected in our Counter-Strike 2 news section.
